** CRAZY ADATA SSD DEAL!! ** - PRE-ORDER NOW!!

GameSave Manager can move games, it creates a junction point so as far as anything is concerned it never moved.

SATANS SPAWN!!!

I am trying to buy OTHER people presents atm!

other thoughts though;

Will they have all the Sandforce problems?

Is Crucial M4 the safer, more expensive, bet?

Very tempting again... SSD and Acronis so the SSD you could say is under £100. :( I hate the tax man he never leaves me with enough monies

Very tempted, but I didn't think it was recommended to clone a HDD onto a SSD because of all the fancy stuff that needs to be done?

Although iv ordered this is something i thought too? Like you were best to do fresh install to allign the drive or something?

I would be happy if this is not the case and will work fine.

In theory you can clone the HDD to the SSD but I wouldnt purely because of the modes involced at bios level.

A HDD is usually in IDE mode and an SSD like this performs best in ACHI mode.. as such a clone will more than likely not work correctly or maybe not even at all.

Third time's a charm :D

Ok so if I did a fresh install of windows I would then use the software to copy it all across? Basically like doing a system restore it will turn the new install of windows into exactly how the old one was?

Also just to confirm I will be running it on a sata2 port so a normal sata2 cable will be fine?

I hope these don't have the "sandforce-2281" problems.

Since I've "updated" the Gigabyte x58a-ud7 BIOS to the Intel OROM v11.0.0.1124 all my issues with the Sandforce SSD's have disappeared. No more BSOD's, freezes or random reboots. The thing is Gigabyte seem to be stuck on an old OROM version in their BIOS so had to do it myself.

Theres no such thing as sata II, or III cables, its a marketting gimmick.

Both sata 3 cables thaat came with my mobo had an annoying L shape end that wouldnt fit. So I used a normal sata cable with two flat ends, and theres no difference, both cables are identical.

Would there be any problems with running a sandforce SSD on my Marvel Sata III controller, other than it likely not being able to reach its full speed?

+1 there is a benchmark on this forum showing the difference between sata 2 cables and sata 3 cables -> only the name and price, there is no other difference ;)
