I had my dad eff and blind in a text when I asked him what the result was...not a happy bunny.

yeah the irish are just too good! Would be nice to see them win it but not likely.

edit: the collapse is on. 152-8

Unlucky ireland all out for 159. gave em a good run for their money though. :D

Dodgy start from england but sounds as though the bowling was spot on now if they can carry through that to the WC we can only hope.

yeah they just didnt have the batting ability further down the order. Hope they can beat Canada on thursday/friday. England bowling must have been pretty sharp but didnt expect too many big scores from bermuda. Would say that if their batting comes good they will be hard to stop.

Bit of an upset today, New Zealand beaten by Bangladesh in their warm up game! One week to go now until the first game.

I'm backing India to win. Would be nice to see them or England win, but honestly I can't see England getting to the final.

Think i'd have to go for India too. The pitches are almost sub-continent. Spinning a bit with not much pace, though the boundaries are shorter, which will suit them also.

SA, NZ, Eng and Aus may struggle unless they can take the pace off the ball like Ind, SL and the WI can.

I'd kinda fancy india almost, they have the best top order of all the teams I'd say, a nice mix with some really talented players.

Australia have too many injuries and as such, a bowling attack that looks quite toothless at times

South Africa, I simply don't think are good enough - world ranking aside

Pakistan - no bowlers left

West Indies - did they even have any bowlers to get injured??

Sri Lanka - wonderfully inconsistent, an outside chance

new zealand - shane bond and the 10 hangers-on too much of the time, not a realistic prospect i don't think

England - If the batting works they're in with a chance, the bowling looks quite good, a combination of medium pace and spinners could be the ticket on these pitches.

The probable bowlers are freddy, anderson, lewis and panesar. which leaves some overs to fill in between collingwood, dalrymple, pieterson and maybe even bell (or even less likely vaughan). It really depends on the batting in the end, I'd prefer strauss to joyce at the top, the pitches could really suit his game. Bell should also enjoy the pitches. If some of them get into good form you never know

...well actually you do, this is england after all (and i say that as a first hand witness to the awfulness of the boxing day test...though i had a pint in the members bar with brian lara afterwards...eased the pain...)

India did lose 4-1 when they were last over in WI for an ODI series, although their spinners are looking good on the WI pitches in the warm up game. Shame they left Powar at home.

what the hell is flintoff playing at??? what was that shot he just played to get out to??? he needs dropping so he can get his head together... had a nightmare in auss now looks like hes gonna do the same in the west indies

lads lads lads, been in bed since monday night with the flu and just when I am looking for something to make me feel happier the England team does it again!

What was it they said about taking momentum from one game to the next?? Nice to see Vaughan go well. Flintoff is so out of form its unbelievable. Nearly as bad as Strauss. Joyce will need to get his act together also. Where is Mal Loye?? I know it was only a warm up but this was like a mini physological victory over england for the aussies. Last thing we needed. At least I can support my home team (ireland) in this tournament and wont need to worry about england for a while!

Pakistan have just beaten SA quite convincingly (7 wickets) in their warm up game, so delighted here :) considering we have 3 of our strongest players unavailable. Roll on tuesday... :D

Sigh.. Colly colly colly.. what did you say in convictland? You said you realised that you're not a Flintoff or Pietersen, but a Collingwood who picked up quick singles and two's, and what do you do today? Get out skying one when we're 6 for 168, have 10 overs remaining and a pile of crap left in the Batting ..

It just shows how much of a mental and psychological game Cricket is. A rush of blood to the head and he forgets what his game is and what his strengths and weaknesses are. :D

Hmmm interesting warm up matches yesterday, England losing as per usual...guess that CB series win over the Aussies was a flash in the pan eh boys??:p. SA again got bowled out for less than 200...hmm looks like the number 1 ranking has got to those SA players...im just glad Pakistan managed to beat them as they need the boost...seeing as they dont have much of a bowling attack to shout about now.

The Aussies just walked towards the victory...was looking like a big total for England till Vaughn got out then the usual gutless collapse by the English batsmen cost them the game tbh.

definitely will be an interesting tournament but England will need to do less talking and put it all into practice. Will be interesting also to see what two pacers they go with as I presume dalrymple and monty both will be chosen. Id say it will probably be Anderson and I'm guessing Lewis although he was expensive against the Aussies.

Well the first game is about to start any minute now. We have won the toss and are bowling first, hopefully we can knock the Windies over for something similar to what India did to them in the warm up! Our first game is the hardest one for us in the group which could be a good thing...

Come on Pakistan!!! :D :D :D
