Gibbs & Paul Harris were racially abused and Ntini was hit on the head with a flag by some Pak. supporters who were subsequently thrown out. Gibbs insulted them by calling them '"A bunch of ******* animals and ******* baboons" and also "You can all **** of to Pakistan".
There's nothing racist there & he didn't abuse any of the Pak. players as claimed.

I believe the actual quote from the coverage was "they're like a bunch of ******* animals, ******* pakistanis, go back to the ******* zoo", which was going too far and he was rightfully banned for it.

Anyways back on topic, looking forward to the final although im still thinking the Aussies will bulldoze their way to another WC final victory...3rd on a trot which is pretty amazing tbh. Although saying that i wont be too disappointed should the Sri Lankans win the final...after all they were my 2nd faves to win the WC. Should hopefully be a good game i hope tommorrow, kinda getting bored of these Aussie hammerings lol.

LOL PMSL, you didn't hurt my feelings as I'm not South African but I'd imagine your constant accusations that they are racist (not anyone in particular, but the whole team usually) would more than upset a South African, especially as you can't back it up. You should work for the PCB, they need a new bigot at the helm now that last idiot has left

I totally agree.

And people need to remember that you don't have to be a white male to be racist, I work with a few racists and less than half are white or male, either way, the culprits often feel the wrath of my tongue and if it carries on, they'll feel the wrath of my size 11's up their rear end. Also remember not to tarnish everyone with the same brush, there are bad individuals everywhere.

It was going too far and the words made it sound potentially racist and he was right to be banned, BUT, I do not think Gibbs is a racist, many of the south african team have pretty distasteful on field personalities but I don't think they're racist.

Same goes for the aussies, they can be pretty nasty on the field (mcgrath asking sarwan completely unprovoked, 'what does brian lara's **** taste like?' being a good example) and there have been a few accusations of racism against them.

I don't think the sub continent can claim to be exempt either, as i'm sure others have said, they're reputed to say some pretty nasty things, just in languages that nobody else knows.

LOL ok i apologise sincerely to JohnnyG who seems to have taken great offence with my comments that the Saffas are racist. I do truly apologise to anyone who i have caused offence to especially JohnnyG, who seems to have taken great offence to such comments. I shall in the future endeavour not to make such silly comments.
Now please can we let it go for gods sake, ill just add that a lot of teams do come out with racist comments and the Saffas arent the only ones who have done it. So again apologies for any offence caused

Anyways getting back on topic, im hoping todays final will be a good one rather than another lop sided affair. Although i want the Aussies to win, id rather see the Sri Lankans give them a real run for their money. I wouldnt begrudge the Sri Lankans should they win today..in fact im kinda neutral in this. Either way im not really fussed who wins as i like both teams, guess thats the beauty of being neutral somewhat. Although i still think the Aussies will hammer them but im hoping it doesnt turn out that way...even though the Aussies have already beaten the Sri Lankans earlier on but they didnt have Murali, Vaas or Malinga in the line up in that game.

Just hoping for a close and decent final..sadly im stuck here at the office so will have to make do with cricinfo's coverage but hoping to catch the 2nd half of the final when i get home later tonight.

"that Alan Donald looks like a racist"

I pointed out to him that he was basing his opinion of a person on the way they looked...... he couldn't see the irony

Aus win the toss and choose to bat first. I'm glad because even if Sri Lanka won, I would have hoped they put Aus into bat. I have too many bad memories of when Pak played Aus in the final and batted first, and collapsed, which meant at the half way stage it was game over. Now at least it should be a game even if Aus reach 300 then at least its still game on and Sri Lanka will know what they have to do. Hopefully though, Malinga rips through the top order
