Criteria for MM access has changed.

It is a good change as it does make it that bit longer for scammers to get there when there are easier targets on the internet. Personally don't really care as I got in there already haha (selfish I know :p )

There are always way to help show new MM members aren't scammers but for the first few transactions, especially if for expensive items, is always going to be viewed with some suspicion and rightly so in my opinion.

Wow, this is ****.

I don't have much to say on the forums and even having spent near thousands in the store, I'm punished more so by some troglodyte scammer having his way with naive punters.

I've got a lot of crap from before my upgrade to sell, but now it looks like I'll take my custom to eBay instead.

In-light of recent issue I have no choice but to change the criteria for MM access.

You now need a 1000 posts and need to have been a member for at least 180 days for the MM to appear. Anyone found spamming to gain entry will have their post count reduced and receive a suspension.

Anyone who gained access under the old criteria of 250 posts and 90 days will not be affected.

Perfectly reasonable.

Forums do not discriminate based on however much you spend in the shop.

If you were willing to sell anything on the Member's market, you'd get posting already as at this rate you wouldn't get access to MM, even with the 250 posts limit, in the next 7 years.

I don't see having spent thousands with the store has anything to do with the Members Market on a forum. - Security to us is priority as it is not fair for genuine users here to be left hard done by.

Generally a good thing I guess, though I imagine those non-spammers with ~240 posts may disagree! Never had a problem myself but seen it happen.

On another note has there been an increase in spambots recently (mostly in GH) or have i just picked up on the few that get through?

What custom? OCUK doesn't make commision on sales in the MM...

Over reaction much?

The store and forum aren't linked via the MM.

The forum is ran by Overclockers, it's used as a platform for discussion, on a wide variety of topics and offers useful and practical advice. The forum also acts as a platform to market their products and share information and aid customer service.

The forum in itself is moderated by the members (to rules set up by both owners and moderators) and the MM is independent from the Overclockers store, it is maintained and ran by members and moderators.

The two are linked, but have little baring on how each are operated. (If that makes sense)

Don't have a ***** fit over the moderators changing the rules in the MM which they run.

Ban TBH. he even has a 5 line sig

If you want an IMHO, you should probably have gone for 500 posts, not 1,000
The 180 days is reasonable though.

I'd also agree with those suggesting a vouching system, as this will probably exclude far too many low posters :)

ACtually, 1000 does seem quite harsh on reflection... maybe 500-700 was more fair. Either way, doesn't affect me. :p

1000 is fine, it's a decent enough post count for the user to have established themselves (without spamming) within this community, it's also high enough to hopefully ward off potential scammers who will hopefully go elsewhere to forums where board owners don't invest as much time and attention protecting their user base

win win
