Lol at the people saying 'we know nothing about computers'
Read, post!, learn, do,
I started reading here 2 years ago, knew basically nothing, today, i know more about computing than 2 years at college taught me, as for spamming GD and the like, jeesh, come on, this is a tech forum, not a soapbox
As for posts, my average is 7.25 PPD? over 2ish years, nearly 5K, it's not hard
My word the amout of butthurt sub 500post members in the last few pages is shocking,
When I joined these forums I didn't even know they had a MM , and I think I hit around 1000 posts before getting access.
You should be joining these forums to contribute to the discussions in a way that your actually caring about the posts ( even if others may not), this ain't no ebay 2.0
I don't see what the fuss is about to be honest, just post more, simples.
It's not generally OcUK that do this, a lot more forums do it for various reasons, to get people contributing, security and the fact that it's a privilage not a right.
6 Months and 1,000 posts is not a whole lot of time to be considered worthy enough of a member for MM access.
It's a silver lining of being part of this community, not the sole reason you should be here. If it is the sole reason for you being here then you have no right to complain about access requirements.
For anyone else, post, contribute, enjoy the community and know that eventually you will also have MM access. Nuff said.
Post count is certainly a very blunt instrument to use, but if it makes life much easier for all those involved, it surely must be worth it. I personally thought that I would one day gain access to MM but given how seldom I actually post that is not going to happen
In exactly the same position...however work has given me a nice new smartphone with unlimited data so should be able to post a bit more. Only need another 820 posts!
Currently averaging 1 post every 2.3 weeks...should get to 1000 in another 36 YEARS!!!!

Like helping people with hardware problems? Look in general hardware for POST issues or whatever and help out, that's what I did when I first joined up.

If they're constructive and relevant comments then they wouldn't be spam. It's possible to post a lot in one day and have those posts be useful and relevant to the discussion but if they're all one line or one word posts then it would be less likely that you were contributing in a useful fashion - posts like "lol", "+1" and just posting smiley faces are much more likely to be viewed as spamming for instance. There is an element of discretion involved here so if a moderator felt that you were simply trying to up your post count then you may find you receive a post count reduction.
