Crop Circles

It takes more people to run the processes required for what you describe than you could fit in a single field...so yes I am questioning mans ability to form that intricate pattern, in a field, in pitch black darkness.

IR (night) vision with the correct equipment.

Impressive bits of artwork for sure, but these aren't messages from aliens or some such nonsense.

Yes it's done by mankind. Sometimes it can be for a PR stunt, like when sheep from several farms got branded overnight with The Smiler logo as a PR stunt for Alton Towers.

Said Arnold J Rimmer :-)

Some of these are just so intricatly perfect and massive I find it hard to believe they could be done by humans.

I mean if you were doing that in a big field filled with head height maize...you would just get lost wouldn't you?

If every idiot cant make crop circles doesn't mean only aliens can make them.
Some idiots cant use a protractor doesn't mean it's some alien device only aliens can use - except from the viewpoint of the person who doesn't know what a protractor is, it will obviously be an alien concept to them.

no theyre not really perfect you're just seeing them from far away. and look at the video posted of people making one in the dark.

in regards to "too intricate and perfect to be done by a human"

the fact this is hand drawn in pencil is far more impressive than any crop circle

If I had that sort of talent I wouldn't waste it drawing bukake.

But seriously, that is amazing.

It's weird how people see anything and immediately jumps to alien as the conclusion.

100 years ago it was God.

Gods, aliens, supernatural beings, magic-users, secret groups with secret power and secret knowledge...they all serve the same purpose in different cultural contexts. "I don't know how it was done, therefore <x> did it", a logical fallacy which often becomes faith and therefore resistant to evidence or reasoning.

Maybe it's just that people tend to shy away from admitting ignorance, so they often concoct a supernatural (the aliens in this context are a stand-in for magic-users) explanation to avoid doing so.

I think there's also an element of changes in cultures. For example, a lot of people nowadays hugely underestimate ancient cultures because of their lack of technology. No power tools, no powered vehicles, no massive cranes, no computers and they were primitive cavemen or something like that, so how could they have built Stonehenge/Egyptian pyramids/etc? The answer is something alien to our culture - a lot of people spending a lot of time working on something. People can haul 40 tonne rocks. It takes a lot of people and it can't be done quickly, but it can be done. People can cut stone quite accurately by hand using very simple tools. It takes a lot of skill and time, but it can be done. Put enough trained people on the job and you can get enough stone cut with enough accuracy. It's all entirely doable with stone age knowledge and technology, but it requires a different way of looking at problems than the modern approach which is based on technology.

However the OP still doesn't sound convinced that (based on his own skillz) that man can do it.
Or has he changed his mind especially after seeing the bloke who made the intricate designs in snow on his own?

its easy these days, everyone has a satnav in their pocket, combine with a plank and a torch=crop circle.

as for the 12 hours, thats just a case of more guys.

pre-satnav era they just used that lesser known of the human organs the brain
