Crossfire :(

I suspect the audio drivers are somehow messing with your mic in windows. Try doing a driver sweep as per the AMD thread. Reinstall the drivers but choose custom install and untick the HDMI drivers so they don't install. Use 13.6 beta 2 with cap 13.5.

Make sure you're using Beta 10 of afterburner. Disable ULPS is under settings, copy these settings.

You need to restart the pc after ticking disable ULPS.

Are either of your cards boost cards with a stock voltage of 1.25v?

I did driver sweep when switching to 13.4 and using 13.4 cap1
Just found beta AB lol ULPS is now disabled with system restart
My new card is 1.25 other is voltage free. Will that be a reason to anything?

I have matched my older gpu to the new clocks 900/1375 going to try bf3 again now.

If afterburner doesn't disable ulps (it should and did for me!) Then start>run>regedit then ctrl+f 'ulps' and change the value for all the hits to disable.

The boost bios might well be throttling unless you have the power limit at +20%. Its a bug of the bios. If the card is at stock and you have the limit at +20% it shouldn't be an issue but i think it will be. I recall having the problem with my card.

What you need to do is enable afterburner osd, show the core clock in the osd and play some games. If you see the core throttling down then that's the problem.

The solution is either extend that cards power limit using a reg hack as per tommy's thread. This will allow you to select up to 50% power tune in afterburner. +30% is plenty for a boost card, even with a high voltage.

Or you can get that guy at oc.net to flash you a custom bios like i did and it makes the card think its a non boost card so no throttling problem. He also gives you 50% power tune by default. The first option is easier.

However first you need to find out if the card is throttling, because if it is that will cause you a lot of microstutter. Enable that osd, show both core clocks and report back after playing bf3.

Core clock on both cards stayed solid at 900. Both cards how ever where between 75 to 85%

Game seemed much smoother though. Maybe ULPS is the reason, mic still cut out though lol have to back out and disable and re-enable to fix it.

Only BF3 makes this happen.

Will look more at it tomorrow off to work now. Thanks for the help guys.

Atta boy.

I can help further to make battlefield 3 smoother with different configs depending whether you use vsync or not. For me personally i don't need to do anything it just works well as it is, but i don't use vsync and i have ULPS off.

You will never get full usage because of your i5 Shanks. Time to upgrade to an i7.

Dont temp me lol.. I using vsync so the gpu useage will never reach 100% correct?

Correct. You should try running without vsync at some point so you can see how much usage you're getting on both gpu's.

Will do that first thing tomorrow and report back :D

Just like to point out though 120hz ROCKs lol every other game just works great. Will fix BF3 tomorrow properly if not I will wait till these new drivers 31st.

Strange thing is it only seems to be BF3. Everything else is working fine.

I'm A BF3 player with Crossfired 7970s.

Drop your Mesh detail to medium, and I bet the game will be a lot smoother.

I am led to believe that the mesh detail setting is CPU intensive.

The only drawback of not running Ultra is the distance that fine details are rendered on buildings etc. NOT PLAYER DISTANCE

All other settings you can leave on Ultra.

I have managed to get 98% with quadfire 5970 and Trifire 7950 with Vsync on depending on the game and loads of AA :D but it is rare but its much easier for me to do it with Trifire 7950, they are not enough.

Mesh detail can be a fps killer.

Ok
Running without vsync and the highest the gpu load on both cards was 80% on both. I had to enable 4x msaa to get that.
Without 4xmsaa the load was about 60-75%

But the game just dont feel smooth at all, very choppy and stutter. This all on a empty Oman server

My total CPU usage is 100% :( with an average of 20%.

So looks like i5 2500k and crossfire 7950 is no good for BF3.

Witch driver and cap you think is best for me? Only games so far seems very good is CSGO and fifa 13
two games then not very demanding at all.

FC3
Tomb Raider
BF3
Hitman

All very horrible to play :( Not having any luck with this crossfire is reall my i5 isn't up to the task?

Shocked if thats the case.

I understand what you are saying, for some reason the Gulf of Oman map runs like a dog on my system too, I never play that map because of this.

Try lowering the clocks on your 7950s just to see if you get a higher GPU usage, if you do then you are CPU bottlenecked like me.

Because of my bottleneck I run my cards at 850/1375 and get higher usage from them but the same framerate.
