Crusader Kings 3 - Paradox Interactive

Probably might, but not with DLCs

I'm ok with that, there was quite a lot of DLC for the other Paradox titles that I didnt bother with so I'm ok to play just the base game for the time being and then by the time DLC comes out which I want the price of the base game will be around on some sites for much cheaper anyway

Paradox are simply wise to the "wait for the inevitable discount" Steam sales after their dlc gouging has finally been fully apparent with EU4, CK2 and Stellaris, so have simply upped the initial retail price so they can offset the loss of earnings in the first year, and still effectively get more out of people like me over time, who have shifted to stay at least two dlc expansions behind strategy, so would never buy on release anyway, since it will still be a percentage discount. This way they get to milk both early adopters and those who would hold out anyway. Also, I bet the supposed larger expansions at 30 quid a go are likely again going to be less frequent over time, and probably just less in number compared to previous games, so again will hit those who are happy to stay a couple behind, if they are spaced out over a year or two between each one.

Huh, PDX started closing discussions about the CK3 pricing like this one

https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/threads/why-is-this-game-costing-so-much.1390169

Especially after some argued that PDX Studio doesn't have a good track record on releasing new games for 10 years.
weird how hardcore defensive people seem on there about it.
were DLC really 30$ in 1998? the only thing we had were expansions that cost around 20$, full retail games were like 30-40?

the expansions were huge as well generally adding like a whole new campaign to a game bot a few units and a couple of new minor features

You are going to be paying more because the expansions will most likely come with reams of 3D animated cut scenes, which are going to be compulsory this time.

Yep. This is beyond ridiculous, especially since they have said are trying to get some of the Sims crowd. Things do not look good tbh.
After all asking €30/$30 for what? We see already what "major big expansions" mean on HOI4. They bring nothing in game, contrary make things unplayable.
I urge anyone who has the game with La Resistance play Japan. Is unplayable, not only at player but as AI also

We already have the German gameplay of CK3 shows that the AI is dumber than ever, yet people argue that the price is justified because Swedish salary raises the last 10 years!!!!!!!!!

Btw lets not forget people like DDRJake left PDX, saying that he makes more money on Twitch & Youtube than working for them these days. (probably this is also escalated if they didn't gave him lead role on EU5, he laughed when asked him on the Grand Lan Party in Poland).

We should expect ray tracing also given the prices. As said we see what those "big expansion" means on the games is applied namely HOI4 and Stellaris. Barely any changes while breaking the game.

While on Imperator where the new "DLC policy" is applied is lazy as f. They redo fricking Greece, is it so difficult to spend few hours to add the emblems on all the shields of the Greek states given the price they ask? Why limit it on 3 only? Not asking for missions etc. Just the shield emblems.

That's the modern world for you, people like defending corporations like they're family. Bizzare IMO but there you go. Instead of "campiagning" for things in their own interest they defend measures that milk them for cash. Look at the GPU forum, it's like the War of the Roses on there.

everything with computers when totally over the top though.
remember how cheap it used to be to build a top end pc.

there was less choice than ever? yet more competition seemingly.

none of this "gamer edition" nonsense that add aesthetics that ramp up the price 100$ and a few LEDs add another 50%.
some feature you will never need or use but its in there anyway BLAM 25% more price increase.

what if the LEDS were programmable? surely thats another 10%?

whole worlds just a crapfest of up selling but not actually giving the choice any more when your at the checkout

capacitors worth an extra 1pence would probably stop 50% of electronics goods failing.

sorry rambling on but modern life sux when you boil everything down.

GREED is king

It makes you wonder if things carry on who will be able to buy anything, tbh the greedier companies get the less I spend, i'm not going to work to immediately hand everything I earn right back, and then back to square 1 next month. If vendors played fait I'd spend more, but **** them. I'm keeping my money.

War of the Roses was civil in comparison :P

yea i live really minimalist with possessions, my place is missing half the furniture a normal consumer would own because why do I need them?
my living room is literally a pc desk bigger than a house door, a couch + coffee table and thats it.

I don't need a side board filled with random possessions for other people to look at when they come around.
I don't have paintings on my walls, why would I, I would never actually look or admire them it's for other peoples benefit.

if it does not directly benefit me I do not want it.

saved my self a lot of money over the years. also still rocking a 4670k @ 4ghz and a 980ti.
not upgrading unless theres something worth upgrading for., I didn't spent like 700-800 or whatever it was for this gpu to get rid of it after a year or two

can't say I have any issues running games and my PC is over 5 years old :D

doubt I upgrade for cyberpunk either if it doesn't run good enough I might just skip it and wait until theres a few games worth upgrading for

How you live the minamilist style is how i would actually be aswell if i was single and living by myself. I would live in a one bedroom flat with just a 2 person sofa, bed and a small cupboard with drawers to put my clothes in. but instead im engaged, 2 guinea pigs and living in a 4 bedroom house with a garden. Complete overkill way of living.

I blame women. They are so materialistic. We've got a 3 bedroom house, me, the missus and two kids (one kid is 25 and the other is 20) , the 25 year old is planning to move out next year and the 20 year old will likely be moving out within the next 3 years...nevertheless, the missus wants to have a full height extension built on the house to contain a 4th bedroom.

I mean whats the point !? Its a point in time where if anything we should consolidate as there will be fewer people in the house, not increase the number of bedrooms. But thats a rant for a whole different thread :)

Oh I couldn't live that way, I don't like minimalist style at all, it feels cold and barren to me, I like Boho - Indian, North African influenced stuff, anything with an Ancient Near East vibe. But each to their own, my home is worth spending money on to furnish how I like, it's not transitory rubbish. but I don't own anything flashy or blingy neither do I buy gadgets or electronic crapola like Alexa's etc, my TV's are 6 years old, car is old etc

I suppose there's two clashing ideas here:

Le Corbusier: "A house is a machine for living in"

Whereas I subscribe to William Morris:

"Have nothing in your houses that you know not be useful, or believe to be beautiful"

The machine for me is work and, having to deal with the hell of other people while there. Home is the escape.

Whichever style you prefer you can still stick two fingers up to the corps and they can keep they're over-priced consumer trash.
