CryEngine 3 PC footage

This isnt the jump that was the cryengine 1 to the cryengine 2.

Its still a nice improvement on cryengine 2, and hopefully it will be more optimised than the previous engines so will run smoothly with the latest graphics hardware.

Not a huge jump graphically, and also hard to tell apart from the consoles, i really hope it is better optimised this time around

does anyone really expect that there's going be be a big improvement between a PC only game engine and its next generation that also runs on consoles, when we're only just seeing PCs that can max the original engine?

CE 3 = CE 2 for consoles, as poster above has said

But that's how good CE2 was! Maybe now we'll see some properly well made games on this awesome engine.

The engines are ridiculously amazing.

Gamers only hate the first because their hardware simply couldnt take it. A case of the engine being way ahead of its time, and not truly appreciated. Thats why CE3 doesnt look massively advanced.

Not being funny but if they are making games on the console more thats not a bad thing as crytek make a game thats hardware 5 years from now will run it maxed out with 60fps i think that is stupid and do not see the logic of that, i want my highend hardware to run every game maxed out at 50 to 60 fps.

Things to keep in mind, the image wasn't extra data on the wide screens providing a wider FOV, it was just stretched, so in all likelyhood it won't look as good in detail/scale/sharpness as it would look on a single screen.

Likewise, its from a distance, hard to really grasp the detail anyway on a low res camera at distant.

But with Crysis and other games, you HAVE to sacrifice some detail close up, to have distant look so god damned good, thats a trade off. You can't do Gears of war style up close models, everywhere on screen the whole time, and Crysis as a whole looks fantastic. Its an outdoors style game, focusing all the power on close up wall textures and pipes would be completely counter productive. I'd take ever so slightly not the best ever walls in games, to have the best outdoor's seen in games to date, when 98% of the game is outdoors. If 98% of the game was in closed corridoors it would be stupid to make distance look good at the expense of nearer objects.

Hahahaha you have to be kidding me!!!

Everything apart from the engine was terrible.

I enjoyed the game, especailly the first 2/3rds of it! The only irritating bit was the floating bit in the space station, but apart from that it was awesome.
