CryEngine 3 PC footage

**** consoles... why should I be bothered about something for the XBOX or PS3?

I agree with Will, it doesn't look much better than Crysis. And, my 4.0GHz i7 only just copes with Crysis now full whack. Like other lessons from history, Crytek came too early

I also recall crytek bawwwing a lot and blaming piracy for reduced sales, rather than the obvious "no hardware on earth can run this decently" fact at the time.

The console market is probably going to earn them more revenues, hopefully this flashy 'new' engine has a game included with it too :p

Because like it or not, they're the driving force behind most of the big games these days due to the amount of sales they bring.

The engine looks good, not a great improvement but it's probably well ahead of it's time. I wasn't the biggest fan of Crysis or Warhead, I enjoyed them both don't get me wrong, but to me they felt quite hollow, with characters that I had no empathy for. I guess i prefer games with more of a story to tell than just fancy graphics, still think they're fun games though.

It looks good but they need decent game creators as since Far Cry the gameplay has been terrible (was never that great in Far Cry either!).

Crytek said they were focusing on consoles because of piracy but would still do PC games. CE3 looks good and obviously the trailer is for convincing publishers to buy a licence for CE3 as that seems to be the path Crytek are taking to recover their loses on Crysis.

They didn't lose anything, sales of Crysis exceeded EAs expectations, Crytek however couldn't help but wonder what it would have done in a perfect world.

It just makes sense to sell the engine, I know I'm getting sick of the shiny UE3 look. Fair play to Crytek on what they have achieved here, I hope developers eat this stuff up.

Looks great and should scale a lot better than Cryengine 2 (this is the whole point isn't it? A more optimised version of CE2?

Now all they have to work on is the gameplay.....

Why? The gameplay was perfect in Crysis - at least the first 2/3 of the games was.

Played the game on Delta difficulty, instead of the neutered Normal, forcing me to use the nanosuit wisely and not just run-and-gun. Was fantastic. One of the best shooters ever.

Yep Crysis was awesome. I look forward to Crysis2.

*ignores those people constantly moaning that they think it is rubbish and badly optimised*

There is no way the engine will be badly optimized as they have to get it running on consoles with 512mb of memory! The graphics themselves are amazing as well. I don't understand people who moan that serious PC games with serious graphics never show up, then Crysis 2 comes along and they still bitch anyway!

screenshots = prerendered wont look that good but maybe close.

I doubt it, at most they're probably downsampled images with some colour/contrast correction. Looking at the actual geometry and textures, it's clear that the screenshots have been rendered using a real time 3d gaming engine.

Agreed. Delta difficulty made that game.
