Crying at films

There are several anime series which get me every time I watch them, I'm thinking things like Maria-sama, The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, Kanon and Clannad for example, and normally it's a combination of the events going on with the plot combined with the music being used which tips me over the edge.

In season 4 of Maria-sama one of the characters, through a set of events which would take to long to explain but involve various arguments in rapid succession, realises that everything she thought about how one of the main characters was treating her was a mis-understanding and all she has done is push everyone who cares for her away. All she can do then is huddle in a ball and slowly count to herself as she doesn't know what to do ...

Clannad AS is the worst though, near the end when the main characters have just gone through a significant event again, but this time with a different outcome, and are watching the lights falling upwards ... the music comes in (In The Palm of A Tiny Hand) and various flash forwards are shown ... gets me every time, to the extent I struggle to explain the story in conversation.

I don't think it's about manliness or non-manliness at all ... it's how much you are empathising with the characters and how much you are caught up in the story. I tend to find it effects me more with TV series than films just because you've had longer to relate to the characters and get drawn into the plot ... not helped that I tend to marathon TV series off DVD rather than watch them episode by episode as they are broadcast and tend to watch series which have multiple episode plot arcs. Can hit me quite a lot, (I've even had reactions from books before now), but the things I tend to watch are more emotionally intense rather than action, it may either be tears of joy or sadness.

I watched Marley & Me on a flight not long ago and was welling up at the end. It's a terrible film, why end it like that :(

Just watched it, cried like a little *****!!! It aint age with me, I am in touch with my emotions. I honestly don't think I am going to be able to look a dog in the eye again.

'Good Will Hunting' gets me when Robin Williams is telling Matt Damon "It's not your fault.."

Same here, I always know it's coming and the misses rips into me when I crack up at that :D

When watching Inside I'm Dancing, it looked like I'd tipped a glass of water on my face

Since having a baby I've definitely become more emotive when it comes to violence or neglect towards women and children. :(
