Crysis 2 is another console port, no DX11!!!!

People who are saying it looks fine with dx9 and that dx11 is just a nice but unnecessary extra - are people who are failing to understand the argument.

People aren't complaining because the game doesn't have dx11 features and visuals. They're complaining because it shows that the game is totally catered to and for consoles with PC straggling far behind on Crytek's list of concerns.
It just shows that this absolutely isn't a PC title, which is also obvious from the other aspects such as pre-determined settings and aim assist. Seriously....aim assist....on a PC...even if it had dx11, that would be enough of a big neon lit PORT sign for me to cancel my pre-order.

So the argument of dx11 not being included has very little - if anything - to do with visuals.

no we understand the argument. My response is get over it. i honestly am really impressed with it. It seems to play fantastically well, much better than i was expecting. and its looks great too. I realise this has no bearing on the single player game but that isnt being discussed anyway. I dont care what it uses or how it's built, it should only be the end result that counts and from what ive played they've done a great job. dx9, dx11 or whatever.

for a game that is 'straggling far behind' i can see little wrong with the way its playing atm. It's already better sorted than a lot of other fps's i could mention.

Who said the pre determined setting are final tho. like i said earlier the cry 3 engine allows exports to all 3 formats at basically a click of a few buttons there is nothing more to it. why should they spend extra time and money making us a pretty demo. If they really wanted to sell the game to the pc gamer they would have included dx11 as a single player demo.

there have been a few reports that the "cough cough" beta leak contained references to dx 11 settings

So as a final say is it a case of everygame that is now on a console instantly becomes a console port.

Also have you actually played the demo

Yeah at least kill cams work off the bat lol

Why do people care about graphics so damn much, not just in this game but in games in general, yes it's nice to put your hardware to use but if it has good gameplay then that in my eyes is all that matters.

Brilliant example is counter strike and CS:S

the top 2 most played games on steam above MW2 + BLOPS.

They're graphics are outdated and I believe only a max of DX9 (?) yet people still love them, why? Because the gameplay is ****ing epic, and that is all that matters.

here are player statistics on steam

Bang on. Who cares how it was made, I care about the end product.

Who still wants to buy a game that is created for consoles and just patched a bit without any extras for the PC. If i want to buy a console game I'll buy myself a console.

read this somewhere else its spot on. crytek fail.

Why should they make any extras for PC when their main market is to the consoles, if anything they should make extras for console.

Get with the times, consoles will dominate most future game releases.

You people care way too much about graphics, what happened to appreciating gameplay.

All people like you want, is an excuse to go up to console owners and willy wave, and try to justify you spending the money on a computer you did and to gloat in console owners face, "Oh look at my graphics way better than console" Who gives a ****. Gameplay > Graphics

So, you'd want Crytek to ignore the HUGE console market and just make it for PC?

What if an awesome game was about to be released and then you found out that it was only for console, you'd be ****ed off wouldn't you!

Why do PC gamers consider themselves so damn special?!

No if the console version only come out and i liked it i would buy the console version. anything else. ??
Dont think im Dam special but when i have a 3k+ rig its nice to hear a brilliant dx11 pc game is coming out.
just like when crysis hit and no1 could max it out for over 4 years later.
belive it or not there is ppl in this forum who have very fast rigs who would like to push them to its limits.

But it will look better lmao.

You think a console could run maxed out DX9 settings like a i7 2600k overclocked SLI GTX580 system could?

Erm i'd love to see a 360 or ps3 re-produce the graphics of the pc demo get ******* real dazboots your borderline just trolling now

Although the graphics may not be a big jump, I was quite pleased that my 4890 handled the demo fine. Will it be the same in the released game?

ohnoes no DX11!! CONSOLE PORT CONSOLE PORT!!! I'M GOING TO CANCEL MY PRE-ORDER RARA RARAR

Thing is that the lack of DX11/DX10 means more than just the graphics. The fact that they have let an important element of the Crysis franchise slip means that there is more chance that they have let other elements of the franchise slip, elements such as scope/scale and depth of shooting mechanics etc.

This combined with features such as assisted aiming in my opinion bodes poorly for the PC release.

Better in what sense?

Yes it has better graphics
Yes it has more customization

however it comes at a price,

You can play the latest games on a 200 pound xbox,
but you can pay in excess of 1000 pounds to unlock the above features.

I'm not putting down PC's, I love playing games on my PC but you have to accept that companies are always going to favour consoles in future as that is where the market is.

incorrect. Lack of dx11 indicates consoles were the main focus, meaning the gameplay mechanics are oriented around the mechanics of a console and a pad, and not a PC/mouse/keyboard. It missing is directly related to gameplay in this sense, and so this argument is as much about gameplay as graphics.

Er, I don't know, maybe because it's THE PC GAMERS WHICH SUPPORTED THEM FOR ALL THIS TIME?

You're still missing the point, it's not about the graphics, it's the fact that things which should be included in the release of a game simply aren't there. Crysis had DX10 from the start, lots of modern games on the PC have DX10 and to a lesser extent, but still there DX11. When the game was announced and more info was released, Crytek said Crysis 2 would have DX10 AND DX11 support for PC gamers, which lots of people now expected, yet come release there will only be DX9 so they've basically disregarded PC's completely, focused on the consoles and which graphics and etc they can use and gone from there. I couldn't care less about the graphics, the fact of the matter is those aspects of the game should still be there whether you care about them or not, that's what you seem to be missing.

People aren't asking Crytek to ignore the console market, everyone knows there's more money there, but you shouldn't ship out a game which is unfinished and doesn't include all the features which were promised at release. It's clear they don't give a rats ass about the PC on Crysis 2, and the only reason they gave us a demo is because of the leak which happened before, which was just ported straight over from the xbox360.

If a game is coming out and it promises me for example a co-op campaign or a level editor exclusively for PC, but they decide in the end they can't finish it, so they just release the game with whatever features the consoles have and these exclusive PC features which were promised aren't coming out for 6 months, I would be saying exactly the same thing as I am now, just concerning a different part of the game.

To be fair you never need to spend £1000 nor £500 to get console level graphics from your games.

Spot on m8. the start screen and options is like im on my xbox.
where has all the settings gone. ppl buying next generation graphic cards
and not using more than what was out 9 years ago.
the more and more software programers do the same its going to get
to a point in not having to upgrade your graphic cards anymore.
andn yes i dont want that because pc gaming will die. i dont want that.
