Crysis 3 official, release date is 2013

Irrelevant, I was over exaggerating to make a point.
It's less than half an hour by far.

Well he was kidnapped at one point during Crysis then comes back near the end. Either way you do hear a lot from him during the course of the game.

Just hope Psycho makes a return for part 3. :)

I quite liked crysis 2, more so than the first one.
The multiplayer was great, until everyone stopped playing it and the dlc fiasco happened.

Crysis in my opinion though is all about futuristic technologies and capabilities.

A bow and arrow isn't doing much to generate excitement for me personally

I wouldn't quite call it that.
He goes MIA, makes a mystery appearance (Ignoring the pathetic comic) comes back with his magic weapon and a damaged suit, then goes back to the island after a patch up job (Cue the pathetic comic) and is magically the "hero".

Even with the comic book "bridging", there's still no explanation of how you get from that point, to Crysis 2.

Well he was grabbed by one of the Aliens and hauled off, same thing. :p

That comic is awful, you really can tell they've ignored the plot of the first one then tried to shoehorn the new plot into the ending of the first game.

Indeed.

I blame no one but EA, same as they're massacre of Mass Effect in Mass Effect 2 and then Dragon Age 2.

ME2 still had a half way decent story, some questionable parts, but I found its gameplay hit the hardest, very simple compared to ME1, along with quite a few buttons changing (Funnily enough, so did Crysis 2)

It really makes me wonder how much work it saves simplifying the controls etc.

I don't find them anymore simple, as I'm always pressing the buttons I would have in the original. C for crouch, urgh.

Removing control is also an annoyance, no crouch in ME2 etc.

Yea every game they make they seem to remove as many control as possible. How hard is it to let me rebind a key really.

Anyway guys here is my take on it:

First of all Alcatraz is dead himself!!;)
You are only playing as a zombie, comes to think of it

Watch from 9:20 - 10:05 when he is being examined medically

The only reason Alcatraz is alive is because of the nanosuit. Prophet was infected with ceph virus (whatever it is called) when he came back to new york. He found Alcatraz almost on the verge of death so prophet decided to give alcatraz suit to carry on the mission he started. Without the suit Alcatraz is as good as dead. So basically what you are playing as is a dead body in the suit. This is all mentioned in the ending. The suit is symbiotic as it attaches itself to the very body tissues of the wearer, thus retaining some or all of the human qualities of the wearer.

The only difference between prophet wearing the suit and alcatraz wearing the suit is that former was alive when he wore it while latter is very much dead or almost dead. So the suit only has conciousness of Prophet as it couldn't store anything from Alcatraz. Hence you are always getting instructions from prophet conciousness as to mission update etc. So when he mentiones at the end 'they call me prophet' it is very much prophet conciousness taking over alcatraz mind.

So I agree with those posters who mentioned that you will be playing as alcatraz body with prophet mind in Crysis 3. So you are essentially playng as prophet.

Kind a like with ocelot and liquid scenario in metal gear solid saga.

As for the Crysis 2 game itself, imo it wasn't a bad game. With high res and dx11 pack it was definitely a beautiful game, albeit as a shooter with restricted areas due to nature of urban city.
Someone mentioned early on that gameplay felt very different from previous crysis. Samething can be said about Bf2 & Bf3. I think it's cause both BF3 and Crysis 3 are made on different engines compared to their previous counterparts.
Imo the vegetation in the last level of Crysis 2 definitely felt closer to Crysis 1 vegetation.

I wouldn't expect much difference from Crysis 2 in terms of visuals, gameplay etc. However I hope that Crysis 3 doesn't come with the same issues that crysis 2 came with; namely lack of high res textures, dx11 etc.

Anyway we will find out in crysis3
