CRYSIS vs. The Modern GPU (Part 1)

its really quite simple.

The level they use for the benchmark is not the most demanding level in the game. Capiche?

Well, that makes more sense if you say that a system achieving 30fps in the benchmark will likely achieve low to mid twenties in later parts of the game, but it wasn't stated that was what we're talking about?

Well actually some people do think like that, guess you've never so it cant be true yea? You sound like you think everyone should agree with you, as if the world revoles around you?

Will has a point here. I initially played the Crysis demo with FRAPS not running and was surprised that I thought it ran rather well on high settings. I presumed it was doing 50-60 fps. Then decided to tinker and loaded FRAPS and was surprised and disappointed to see it "only" running at around 30. So my impression of smooth was directly affected by actually noting the FPS rather than what seemed smooth initially.

30 'seems' to be a rather low figure for many people (myself included) and people expect 30 to seem sluggish and laggy. I tend to think that the relatively slow pace of the game (only played the demo) and the motion blur effect makes the game appear smoother than it probably is.

It's really not on to attack people as "idiots" and "wrong" to simply have a different opinion to oneself.

I disagree, simple as that tbh, without motion blur 30fps is not smooth, yes it's acceptible but not smooth, I've already explained and quoted why low fps via tv/movie appears to be smooth becuase of the motion blur, this is not opinion but common knowledge, this applies to gaming also and it's the reason why many people complain about 30fps and less because of the lack of blurring.

Oh I thought you meant with Motion Blur aswell.

It could also depend on how you play crysis . If you play it like me all guns blazing and right into the action then it may not feel smooth as i play the game like i play cod 4 running about crazy shooting all i can see as fast i can. If on the other hand you play it more tactically and take your time it may feel much smoother as you are not making as many fast turns running about like a mad man lol.

Feels smooth which ever way I use, I get some couple of second freezes tho sometimes but I put that down to loading.

For the most part Crysis was perfectly smooth for me on 1650x1080, All High, No AA on a 2.8Ghz C2D 3GB 800Mhz C4 and an 8800GT OC, it does slow down in some parts but not to 11 odd fps on the deck of the ship, there were about 2 moments in the entire game where I wished the frame rate was higher.

Must be another damnd problem with my rig again coz I was gettin 11.8fps for a large part of the deck fight :(.

I know it wasn't 25-30 like the rest of the game but I'm pretty sure it didn't get to 11.8, still had loads of problems with falling through the damn floor

Not even sure which thread I was making this for but here is Crysis making good use of a quad core.

Edit, and there are busier maps/sections than when I took this.

I don't get it, a mate of mine with his P4 2.8, 2gig and 1950pro AGp gets:

min: 13 av: 27 max 37

1280*1024 0XAA high detail. :S

is the 1950 this good then?
