CRYSIS vs. The Modern GPU (Part 1)

I posted these in the GT thread, but i will pop them here also.
Asus 8800GT @ 650/950 (1900). No idea on shader. Simply upped the sliders in nTune. :D

Looking at other results, these seem about right.

3D Mark06

Crysis. 1280x1024, all settings high, No AA/AF

Min Fps 21.63

Max Fps 48.17

Average Fps 39.93

That will do me nicely. ;)

Rest of spec as sig. XPsp2

I got an average of 37.12FPS in XP, 42.53FPS running SLI.
Is Crysis not really benefiting from dual GPU? Heard about a patch coming out?
That said there are big FPS differences once you start adding AA between single and Dual cards.

Never really bothered with AA/AF to be honest. Probably because i have never had a card capable enough :D

1280 x 1024 looks very good on my 19" crt as is, which is good enough for me. ;)

How did you collect the fps data, fraps?
No just used the games in-built benchmark. The results are dumped to a text file.

However I just found this cool new app today, wish It had been out a few weeks ago!

Crysis Benchmark Tool 1.05 Final

Also allowed me to pick the widescreen resolutions that were missing in-game.

Its a really good benchmark tool this, unfortunately the actual crysis benchmark doesn't represent the FPS you will be getting in the last third of the game. With settings i can get 30fps in the benchmark are crippled to as low as 4fps in the last scenes :( Cant wait to replay the game in 2 years time.

Deffo some peeps talking out of there rear ends we shall say at 1280x960 on a 8800gt and a quad core 6600@ 3.15 and 4 gig ram(shows 3.5gig) if i put aa on there is no way in hell its playable its barely playable in places on high without aa.

i have quad core and 8800GT any AA at all makes it unplayable, it just slows down like its in slow motion :(

Just benchmarked my 2 bfg oc in sli at stock and got the following.

Weird results

My rig is a BFG 8800GT OC, 4800X2 @ 2.9Ghz and 2GB ram WinXP

I get the following in the gpu benchmark, no AA:

1024x768 Medium: 45.5 High: 35.5

1920x1200 Medium: 40.5 High: 24.6

Overclocking the GT to 675/2000 gives 26.4 1900x1200@high

My scores on high at 1920x1200 are in line with the OP but the medium ones are lower, I wonder if I am CPU limited at these lower settings?

Hi peahead, any chance you could do some more tests pls? but this time set everything to Medium and do a run then set everything to High and do another run, thanks! :)

This is with medium

Here's a strange one. I was messing with the settings and found that I could run the game at what looked about 10fps with everything set to Very High. Looked lovely but the jitteryness was ridiculous - and that was at the start of the game!

So I set it all to high with no AA/AF and it ran lovely and smooth (for me at least). I thought, I know, I'll try some AA to make it look purdy. I jacked it up to max and of course the frame rates dived to abaout 5fps. Unfortunatley when I put it back down to no AA, the frame rates were still abysmal. I had to quit the game and restart to get it back to normal. Just a thought guys when you're playing with the settings - seems that if you change a lot and dont restart the game it has an adverse affect on your fps.

Nice that a 8600gts can beat a 1800xt even at high res, can it top a x1950pro also?

My rig is a BFG 8800GT OC, 4800X2 @ 2.9Ghz and 2GB ram WinXP

I get the following in the gpu benchmark, no AA:

1024x768 Medium: 45.5

3 fps higher then my 8600gts
:D

Better than mine.

I get 45 fps a 1680 x 1050 medium and 25 fps at high.

That's with my AMD 4200x2 at 3.014 Ghz and my 8800 GT at 750/1758/1950.

Any chance you can run yours at 1680 x 1050 to compare?
