CS:GO Discussion

People moaning that the game hasn't moved on and the others have evolved, rubbish. Look at the entire COD series and BF3 now all generic clones of each other. Neither have added much to the actual gameplay.

CS = No xp, no unlocks, no ironsights, maps that play nicer, arguably take more skill
All things I prefer over the other FPS games. The others just feel to samey! Yeah it may feel old compared to the newer games but overall I think in a match it plays better. I mean this game helped start the entire competitive gaming scene and for good reason.

For people new to CS you can buy the cs collection for £12.91, just don't waste your time with Condition Zero.

Condition Zero was actually my favourite CS of all time!

On the beta already but pre-purchased for the cheaper price. The thing is with CS, you either love it or hate it. I think i started playing CS on 1.2/1.3 so have always loved each incarnation. Source probably being my leats favourite now though.

EDIT - When seeing the pre-purchase yesterday i was a bit disheartened to see the lack of Mac support but they've since updated that on Steam which is nice. I'll have to see how the platforms compare. Hopefully the beta on the 14th with be for Mac too.

Definitely not 'more skill' in CS:GO than your standard CoD fodder. The game is hideously simplified and wholly unsuitable for competitive-level play.

Also I think you'll find games like Quake did quite a lot more to get FPS gaming's competitive industry going.

I want to like this game I think it's good but I'm struggling a little at the min, I can't even begin to imagine how many hours of CS 1.3, 1.5 and 1.6 I played over my teenage years. I played a little Source but didn't really like it and I had started to lose interest in PC gaming at that point anyway so that didn't help either.

I have recently started getting an interest for PC gaming again and I was fortunate enough to stumble onto a CSGO beta key, I was never great at long range in my CS days I got by basically by having perfect recoil control of any relevant gun in the game. I'm not having the same success in CSGO I've been forced to burst fire a lot more and I'm just wondering if anybody else has experienced the same thing? I don't know if it's a problem with different recoil patterns, different netcode or maybe I'm just out of practice. I didn't think it was a rust issue as it feels like I'm controlling the guns fine the hits just don't seem to register.

Yea its true, same problem I was having, I was using some gun (one of the smgs i think) and I was literally next to some guy holding down fire and it did hardly any damage at all, took down all his armor and then him to 50hp and I got dropped instantly by his assault rifle.

The guns seem well off in GO compared to source at least

I wasn't really interested..then I saw the bundle on Steam. £12.91 for the entire lot. Tempted now.

I played some CS briefly when it first came out as a Half-Life mod. I haven't been an FPS gamer for years, but the price of that bundle is nothing. If I don't like it, no big deal.

Source is considered the 'best' version?

Although i've been playing source since it came out (played CS since beta 7.1) 1.6 is definitely the better game

Just no! 1.6 > Source by a long way.
