CS:GO Discussion

I've only played the beta for about 5 hours, but I think it's gonna take some getting used to.

When I play CS:Source, I think it's still much better. But you never know, this might change when it's out :)

Honestly, I think I will be sticking to CS 1.6 contrary to the status quo.

1.6 is slowly decaying, WCG dropping the game, even SK dropped its 1.6 team last week. Big disappointments. Will be interesting to see how e-sports will progress with CS:GO. If you can call this progress...

It's so sad that teams and competitions are dropping 1.6. I still have faith in CSProMod. Hopefully people will embrace it in the eSports scene.

I can see CS:GO being popular for a few months (like any other new shooter) and then slowly becoming inactive as players go back to 1.6 or Source. I think it's possible it may replace Source after a while but a year down the line, 1.6 will still be competing with it like it did with Source for many years until it eventually overtook it. I look at CS:GO as a game to test the waters as a potential CoD/BF rivalry, not an actual fully-fledged Counterstrike. I'm still waiting in hope that CSProMod is a success or a CS2 is made (which i feel is possible when a new engine and HL3 is about). Please. :)

Its, um, Counter Strike... again... Oh, but with slightly shinier graphics.

I have fond memories of CS, but I've moved on since then, and this version doesn't bring anything new to the table. Compared to BF3 and the upcoming Planetside 2 it feels a bit too dated and simplistic now.

I quite like it, reminds me of the fun with CS, but I like many other have moved away from CS and I dont quite think that this is enough to pull me back from the likes of bf3

well for the price £15 can't see why not , it might not be better than 1.6 but it's easily better than most newer fps games bf3,mw2 etc

You really can't compare CS to BF3. I don't mind dying to people that out aim me but being killed by someone hiding in a house with a sniper rifle or a tank sitting in the middle of a map gets boring very quickly.

Pretty much +1 to this.

I played it a few months ago when I got a beta key and it was pretty awful so I haven't touched it since but the changes listed on their blog do sound very good.

For people new to CS you can buy the cs collection for £12.91, just don't waste your time with Condition Zero.

I'm not really trying to. I'm simply saying that I've moved on to other games that are, for me at least, more involving. And that when I go back to CS its still a great game, but just one that I've just played to death and moved on from.

I now quite enjoy having the option to jump in a tank / jet / jeep / chopper / APC, and be assault / engineer / recon / support class, along with all the various config options. So after getting used to this, when going back to CS it feels a bit simplistic. Or maybe just more focussed? Not a bad thing, just bad for me.
