CS:GO Discussion

Often this is the case, but this is definately not the be all and end all. Soundwave ranked up massively just by planting the bomb, Im not sure he has had a kill yet to be honest.
But as those above say the game is more about communication, playing as a team and spinning the odds in your favour e.g you never want a fair fight.

SHOTS
FIRED.

All of you should go to jail for picking on old people.

SoundWave is the father figure of the CS:GO OCUK community. Robbo is the mother figure (not sure why tbh), I am the youngest of the twins (Flighty is the 'older' twin), Stu is the rebellious teenager, Joel is the oldest of the kids, who was born when the parents were just 15.

The rest of the community were all adopted into our (already huge) family. (I just don't know how to fit you in...)

Yeah, mostly I am. But I was in a couple of comp servers last night and saw the same appeared to be true. But to be fair I dont think they were proper comp servers as there were something like 16 players per team. They just had comp rules + collision etc etc. I am just trying to get at least a little bit useful before dropping the nerf bomb on a team in comp mode. At the moment I am the equivalent of the weedy kid that nobody wants to pick for their team :p

Ermm no that is not competitive that is just casual with competitive settings on the server

Competitive is 5 v 5 No quitting allowed or the ban hammer rains down

Yeah I figured that was the case. It was just a practice session with comp settings really. Collision makes a huge difference with that many players trying to squeeze down a single hallway :p

Have to admit I left though. Didn't really enjoy it. Was really campy and basicallly boiled down to players stacking behind a no mans land section and trying to pick each other off. So far I have had the most fun on demolition. Small teams, fast pace. Love it.

I guess I just need to find a comp server with players on that are equally bad as me. Hopefully MM can achieve that? :D

the only way you are gonna improve in a competitive enviroment is if you jump in the deep end like i did, i started out at silver 3/4 now im MG2 close to MGE, no amount of practising in different enviroments will help you fully when it comes to MM if you really want to have a go at competitive settings i suggest you try out face it, the sheer volume of information people has given you on here is insane, use what people have told you and go at it.

I was considering following the CS:GO Esports scene until i saw this, thanks raider.

This is gold.

I think it depends on the game whether KD ratio is relevant.

For example, in CS:GO killing more enemies and dying less is always good because essentially that is all the game is about. There are no real task specific roles/classes.

There are roles within csgo where getting a low kd can still mean you are doing a lot for your team, IGL's/support/Entry fraggers may have low kd's but they are doing a lot for there team.

Entry fraggers are the first onto site and take the attention of the players on site while another player can peek and get the kills. These players will often have low kds because they are the first onto site so getting shot at the most but would you say they are usless because they have a low KD?

There are also such thing as impact kills, sure one guy may be going 7-2 but if 6 of those were vs an eco round do they really matter at all? One player may be on a 3-5 kd but those 3 kills were vs the bomb planter stopping him getting the plant, giving his team time to get onto site and kill the rest of the guys.

KD isn't all that important in csgo.

Its not called camping in csgo. As CT you are always holding an area. While it may be considered camping in other games csgo is on a totally different level.

:D:D:D:D:D:D

No offence, if you haven't played real competitive 5v5, you have not played CS. Might aswell go play CoD, because in non-competitive games, the most essential parts of CS are lost.
This really its a completely different game, much slower(sometimes) more tatical (most of the time) more fun (sometimes).
Much much better when got a full 5 on voice too.

I don't like it being called competitive :(

Competitive to me is playing in leagues and tournaments, where it's a competition. Match-making is what it is, match-making.

And K/D plays little to no factor at all in CS teams. Sure, killing a lot is good, but I'd rather have four players with me who can follow my strats and work together than 4 people that run around playing aggressively and doing nothing to help the team coordinate.

Just got this after playing source for a good few years, finding it more "slower" than source?

Finding the whole buy screen horrible as well atm. Think am just used to the numbers/buying on css

Also am I the only finding it hard to tell the difference between t and ct?

Maybe it's all a case of getting used to it?

No I very often shoot team mates by accident. I am used to some kind of visual distinction between teams. In Q3 I have a specific colour for the enemy model, in Tribes they are denoted by a red symbol over their head.

I am getting a bit more used to it, but at a distance I keep forgetting to check my mini map and very often shoot a team mate because my brain equates movement with "KILL IT!!" :p Also, I tend to shoot immediately because if I dont and it is an enemy player, I will almost certainly be put down with a headshot before I can pull the trigger. :p

Strats? Are you solo queuing or playing with a few regular people?
