CS:GO Discussion

well, i loved css, i loved 1.5, cs:go. i dont know, it just doesnt feel right. only played a few minutes on office, and it doesnt look *that* good, furthermore some of the models, mainly people with shotguns or large rifles while running with them at the hip looks really, really silly - i think the heavy from tf2 has a smaller profile :/

I guess its a beta for a reason, but for me, so far im a little disapointed.

Had a quick GO and it seems ok. Like most people Ill have a longer game tomorrow. Only downside Ive seen so far is its still DirectX 9  :( Thought they might've gone to DX 11.

yes because the difference between 9 and 11 is so noticeable isnt it? why go to 11 when it has very little real world benefits on a game like cs....

you can change where the gun models are placed in the options menus.

Just had a quick go classic - dust. And since im not a huge cs player got owned right away. recoil will take the week to get used too & maps. I don't like it when a vote comes up to scramble the people on each team, that it does it right away. Maybe needs to wait till the current game is over then change rounds.

I give up on the Mac Beta. Needs a bit of work for it to be competitive. No idea why they didn't release the beta a long time ago like the Windows version. Lighting issues, shadow issues, sound issues, stuttering issues...

Back to the Windows version i go.

I played for ten minutes when it finished downloading, I haven’t really formulated an opinion yet but I have some initial thoughts:

It feels like a port of a console game – there’s options for the playstation move controller. I don’t understand why this exists for the PC version – any serious/casual FPS player would not use a gamepad for the PC.

Graphics – maps aren’t cluttered with loads of unnecessary garbage – going back to that feel of 1.6 but retaining the CSS look.

Gameplay, only messed about with a couple of core guns, the USP, the colt, the deagle, awp. All felt pretty good, the colt a bit wobbly. Tried spamming some walls for kills but nothing, I liked that about 1.6. The slight blur when moving about scoped with awp annoyed me but i’ll get used to that.

All in all – promising, i’m just excited at the prospect of having a good simple competitive 5v5 game. I never got my head round TF2 so this is the next best thing for me.

Played it for a little while last night, a whole 34 minutes in fact. other then the little things like the sound being MEGA tinny? I think its a good game.

Will definitely take some getting to used to seems like they have taken the good bits from CSS which is basically nothing and 1.6 merged them and came back with a hybrid... feels like source but also feels raw like 1.6 did
Need more time to play it which I plan on doing tonight.

Don't think they will be able to recreate anything as good as the old school CS 1.3 etc. even earlier versions, Will definitely play it for a while tho....

What I have never liked about the CS series is how inconsistent things can be. For example, I have been playing some DM servers to try and get some of my aim back and sometimes the people that I am shooting will either die in 1 or 2 bullets or just not at all. To say it is infuriating is an understatement.

So far I don't like how the character models blend into the background and also terrorists and ct look similar, making it even harder to distinguish between. Will take time to get used to that.

Also what's up with sprays? Using sniper rifles, headshots easy, take any other gun and headshots are impossible, seems like guns never shot where they supposed to and the rare times I do get headshot it's not because I was aiming at the head.

In cs:s go you aim at the head, you shoot take a pause shoot so that recoil doesn't affect aiming too much and bullets go roughly where you aim, in cs:go bullets go all over the place

I'm a bit upset they seem to have removed the ability of spraying in this game, let me clarify by saying there is a difference between spraying with good recoil control and spraying and praying. I didn't play much Source but back in 1.5/1.6 recoil control was a fine art, I wasn't very good at long range so I made sure my recoil control was perfect so I could dominate close quarters stuff. You basically couldn't succeed as a high level player 'back in the day' without good recoil control, it just seems to be an after thought in this game unfortunately.

With that being said, I'm pretty happy with the rest of the game. I've been in the beta for a while but only started playing it regularly about a week ago, it feels good. Will be interesting to see the differences between the beta and the proper release next week, from what I understand silencers will be in the full release I see a lot of people asking about those in the beta.

Drunzer, I knew I recognised that name last night! You killed me multiple times haha.

Played some for the first time in a few months and it has improved quite a bit since the last time I played but it still has some pretty major flaws.

I still can't see when a gun is recoiling nor can I see my bullets so it makes it impossible to control recoil still. The tracers are completely unnecessary and should go as well.

They need to change the skins, lost count how many times in the space of 30 minutes I had to squint at my screen to figure out whether it was an enemy or not. There should a clear distinction between both teams and the map terrain as well.

Movement is still clunky, still feels floaty but not as much as before although there is still no air control.

Will probably leave it a few more months, still not good enough for me to contemplate playing it competitively.

Having played much Source and GO, I can finally say that GO feels so clunky at the moment - there's not as much 'visual' feedback with the guns, and the recoil seems a bit iffy at the moment. For example, the AK in Source has a nice 'jolt' backwards when you burst, whereas in GO it's more of a little shake. Feels like you can't burst any more in GO, and spraying seems like a no-go. Also it looks like everything has been smeared in Vaseline. :(

Given some time, I guess I'll adjust. :p
