CS:GO Discussion

You're never going to have a level playing field with MM.

If you want closer games with people who actually want to win and avoid trolls play faceit or something similar. Also less cheaters.
I've had CEVO recommended to me, but I don't really know much about the different services. Is there any info about the pros/cons of each?

I haven't played CSGO in months. I'm half afraid to play it now to see how shít I really am. I was Gold Nova Master last time I played. I'll probably drop down to Silver again after my next competitive game :p

I used to play CS Source until my eyes bled years ago but have never played CS:GO, are there any servers which are (relatively) newbie friendly and hints / tips that anyone can suggest?

You'll be fine, theres plenty of new players and many have not seen CS before even so theres advantage still. Some only really know dust2 for example

Im curious how long this derank bias goes on for. I dont think ranks upset ruin it exactly, just that was important feedback for many that they are improving and now theres no reward or target to aim for.

Im giving in and playing with weapons I wouldnt normally, like 5-7 over cz. If its going to derank for 3 wins 1 loss then I might as well do whatever, played a few on vertigo and assault :o

Teamwork I agree is a bit off, people dont get the idea of falling back when bomb is planted & being defensive. Dont stand next to the bomb with 3 possible angles to cover vs
But other games are ok, I noticed my ping was 70 in EU West and 90 in USA east , generally everybody has better comms in usa mm

They were doing Portal 2 with this offer, CSGO can work but not sure if its close to a mouse. Maybe it sorts them into a different queue

The little I know is they are standard comp games, mixes but you can form a team on faceit. No xp or rank effect as its a private or 'community' game, you can get weekly drops like you would playing on valve servers.
ESEA has a client anti cheat, paid for. CEVO has a client also I think. ESL ditto ?
Faceit has server based anti cheat, no client. Popflash has no client and no anti cheat more then vac. No overwatch but you can request during a game that admin ban a player or examine the demo and all players need 100 mm wins.
The skill level can be high, often theres a global in a game which is not usual in mm if you below LEM. Quite often I find games everyone is MG or similar as well, you cant choose which. I got a week ban for smurfing vs a supreme one time which is sorta funny they think Im a threat (gn4 now), the skill level is not impossible hard to play most of the time, esea is the hardest of the lot usually
People take private games less seriously quite often, I found popflash best for teamwork. MM can be the best or the worst of those choices, private is 128 tick and sometimes much better ping. 1 mm game was just me + 1 person as all others left or TK, he got nearly 40 frags for close 16-12 loss so ok in the end

Not played CS in years, I have Go, and it works in Linux so gave it a try.

I was impressed with how well it ran, I'm using Ubuntu with the AMD OS driver on a 290 and it's pretty darn good.

Much less impressed with the effect that 3 years of Xbox have done to my PC gaming skills.

Tried Faceit last night (free service) couple of good games - decent people who actually work together but skill wise must be pretty high.

If you pay into it you get access to the premium service.. With that you also go into ranked league and get matched up with people in your league..

£17 for 6 months was a fair price I think.
128tick
Eu only players
Players so far seem friendly and want to play the game properly.

Don't think I'll go back to match making on csgo.

When was the last vac wave?

Months ago there were a few huge waves which ridded high ranks and lower of a lot of cheaters. Shortly after this time Volvo also changed the ranking scheme hence we all went form DMG to GE (like me) and Nova to MGE/DMG, Silver to MG2 etc.

I and others have been horrified smurfing recently and seeing what the current DMG's are like even if it's likely that i'll be down to LEMish again that cool, more eve games are great. GE has been a nightmare these past few months, it's either old school SMFC/GE's who just rek face or really bad GE's.

CSGO EU West Servers

Does anyone else have any problems joing EU West servers with Virgin Media ISP??.
It will not let me join any EU West servers at all. So when I'm in a lobby with my mate it chucks us in some stupid servers with massive pings, we are in the UK.
He can get into EU West servers by using a MM Server Picker, but it doesnt work for me??

Any Ideas?

I was playing MM last night and had no issues using MM servers, don't know which ones as used but they where fine.

had issues with my internet yesterday morning as it went down for a few minutes but that's it

re you using just the superhub or is it in Modem mode?

I'm using it as the Superhub, I can get in to all other servers just not EU West.

Here is the read out showing EU west problem, its ping is only slightly better then playing in New York sometimes

US east shows as 133 here but should show in game as below 100 for some people and EU west is above 70. Its less then 20ms difference for me so I often opt to go USA as you leave behind a lot of EU common problems.
I find it playable aim or ping wise though part of this relies on your play style, most will appreciate a whole team speaking english

In early 2015, Valve suspended a number of professional Counter-Strike: Global Offensive players after it came to light that they'd been involved in fixing matches and betting on the outcomes. A handful of them were ruled ineligible to compete at ESL One Katowice 2015, but at least 21 (including the seven who were banned in January) were given indefinite suspensions that Valve said would not be reviewed until 2016. Now that 2016 is here, a final ruling has been issued, and it's not happy news for the players involved.
“Back in January and early February 2015 we took action after we discovered that a small number of professional CS:GO players were engaged in match-fixing. Our decision was to ban these players indefinitely from involvement in Valve-sponsored events,” Valve wrote in a CS:GO blog post. “To clarify, the bans for these players are permanent, and players proven to have taken part in match-fixing will be permanently banned.”
“As the scene grows, it’s an unfortunate reality that some individuals will seek opportunities to take advantage of their fans,” the statement says. “We will continue to take whatever action we think is necessary to protect the entertainment value created by professional Counter-Strike, including, on occasion, terminating our relationship with individuals who have demonstrated a willingness to exploit their fans’ faith in the integrity of the sport.”
While the ban only covers Valve-sponsored events, the likelihood is that it will ultimately extend beyond that. The ESL and ESEA both said that they would honor the suspensions when they were first imposed; the ESL later added that none of the suspended players would be allowed to take part in its CS:GO tournaments “until these cases are reviewed by Valve.” I've emailed the ESL to confirm that it intends to make the bans permanent as well, but given its willingness to follow Valve's lead with the original suspension, I'd be very surprised if it changes course now.

Also, due to boredom I've been playing CSGO. I'm not very good at it so just play with bots, does reshade not work as I can't get it to load colour correction files?

Judging by how competitive the game is it probably treats it like a cheat injector and stops it, but if you have got it working how did you do it? Ta
