Feeling a bit guilty... have played CS:GO for a little bit but almost entirely just casual for fun, though several of my friends play comp a lot. Decided recently to try and get into it so started working towards my 10 wins to get my rank. The guys I play with are all pretty good players but the combination of the de-rank in November plus not playing so much for a while has left them all around the top few silver levels (they're on their way back up though I'm sure)...

But still imagine my shock when after finishing win number 10 last night my rank is revealed as Gold Nova 3! (Yeah I know it's not super amazing or anything, but it was a surprise that it was higher than the others). I guess because we have been playing as a full team all communicating and they are all good players means I think I only lost 1 game out of 11 to get to the 10 wins, and so even when I didn't put in a great performance I guess it still thought I was doing good? (I got carried a bit in other words)

I'm sure if this rank is undeserved I'll slip back down pretty fast but I'm hoping it's actually more a case that they are a little under-ranked and will catch back up. We were mostly getting matched against low-rank Novas and were doing pretty good against them so maybe...

DMU were frustrated in the finals of the Winter Championship and in the KoTN qualifiers by Manchester. But their dogged opponents fell long ago in the Spring tournament, and no other team proved able to slow their race through the upper bracket to the finals. Can DMU exorcise the demons of the Winter final and claim victory?

Cache is 2nd to Dust2 in balanced sides I think. Not sure what stats say at present
CLG is 7th in the world by some rankings, now playing/losing to Tempo who used to rank below Invert's team on that vid

Your aim was nice buta couple of tips that will help you go further.

1. You MUST spend all your money n pistol round. In general in MM it's best to buy kevlar for $650 as this reduces damage and aim punch. Aim punch with out armor means your bullets fly sideways.


2. We didn't see your 2nd round buy but I will explain it for you if you win the pistol round. Lets say you bought Kevlar in pistol, didn't die and now have money to spend..STOP!!! Buy a helmet (or kevlar plus helmet if you got damaged in pistol round). This now means you won't be aim punched*, can take more damage and can't be OHK from any default pistol HS. Only once you have upgraded your armour do you buy as SMG/Rifle.


You never** buy an upgraded gun (aka AK/M4/P90) without buying armour to go with it.


*well you stil get 1-5% aim punch but better than nothing.
**you can on occasion buy AWP/Scout without armour but i'd wait until much higher ranked/experienced to understand when that is a good risk to take.

Thanks - I usually go armour plus ak/p90 in 2nd round if I win but I'll take armour first round from now on. See how I get on. Cheers for that.

Shouldn't really go for an AK without full armour in the second round. If you die they get a rifle and if your teammates only have smgs then that can cost current round or the next if they save it.

Also take into account your all your enemy probably wont have full armour (unless your facing an organised team) so smgs + full armor will do the job and give you bonus money per kill ($600 except for p90 which is $300).

Due to pistol force buying being so strong teams are now picking up a few AK (2 and maybe one Galil with more nades) coupled with two SMG's.

Mostly its on maps were there are long range encounters, you use the SMG's to scout out bombsites for any stacks, and clear the initial close range encounters, then have the AK's come in and hold the afterplants.


Another big mistake I see people do in MM is buying too many SMG's as CT after Terrorists got a 1st round bomb plant. It means you're gonna be on an SMG when T's are on AK. You should always go M4's if you can. Famas vs SMG (and proactivly try get some kills) is a tougher choice, but if you can afford the M4, make sure you get it.

If you can buy a rifle/full armour sure but its very situational and would never choose a rifle over full armour.
 
As T:

If you win pistol + get a few kills. Buying 2-3 Ak's/Galil with utility + SMG's is normal.

If you lose Pistol without bomb plant. You can force tec9 armor and a few smokes or save/light buy a few pistols.

If you lose pistol but get a bomb plant, you buy nothing. Maybe one flash or smoke on someone who got a few kills.


As CT:

If you win pistol and no plant from terrorists, get SMG's/1 scout (on certain maps) and 1 maybe / 2 rifles depending on map.

If you win pistol but terrorists get a bomb plant, get as many rifles as you can get. Even sacrificing utility.

If you lose then the option is obviously fully force up or light buy just pistols (no armor). Some maps need more utility than others and on those maps its better to just light buy 2nd round after losing pistol.

This is pretty accurate, I try to save and run with SMG's for first rounds as much as I can, I tend to entry frag so run and gun with smg is viable option...Even when opposition are on a buy the sheer speed can occasionaly suprise the enemies, you can somehow tell from the first 2-3 rounds depending on how good the team is with pistols if you have to worry for the first gun round. It might be not a good strat for everyone. Mostly for stuff like inferno as T if you keep your mac 10 and have team mates who granage top banana and smoke b site and flashes than you can run with mac 10 ez but if you are alone if there an awp peekin on spools you are pretty much screwd.

The LE rank is now proper GRIND since the rank update I fell to MGE and got back to LE again (in like 10 game), and now won like 9 games and lost maybe one... its good tho I like it I don't feel like LEM rank, so LE is perfect for me, just the fact it takes much more now to be better rank which is lovely.

Great guide but only thing I'd add to it, is the cheeky T buy having lost pistol but planted the bomb, also it's only good for a fully communicating team.

Armour + UMP / Armour + Tec9 + Nades vs a low buy CT team (map dependant) can be very very effective but it's a risk.
