CS:GO Discussion

played the trial. Enjoyed it but couldnt help feeling it was missing CS:sources community feel.

Nobody typed things or made jokes only COD players seemed to be on there with terrible language and insults which made things dull. There weren't as many mods for improved huds, sounds, no spray art. The games were monotonous and silent over and over again. The map rotation is poor, there is only really one good game mode, and although the game has never been about graphics i found them to be quite poor even though its clearly using the latest source engine it couldn't match upto L4D2 which was released quite a number of years ago now.

and if its not about graphics and CS:Source isnt broken then why play CS:GO other than for better big picture mode and controller integration ? CS:Source still feels more twitch and brutal and you can always get a controller working on Source too if you wanted with one console command.

I wont be spending my money on it.

Yeh playing in a team is a lot of fun
I was playing with a friend over skype, and it felt like a completely different experience
I'm usually a lone wolf, but co-ordinating your plans with someone else makes it feel very different

We had a few private games on CSS. Are there people interested in the some on CS:GO (mostly for sad loners like me who have no one to play with (play CS:GO I mean :P)

Does anyone know when the silencers are coming back?

Also how do you stop yourself from spraying? I can sometimes shoot in bursts but when I come into close quarters I just see the enemy and unload my clip until they or I am dead. :p

Bursts for medium - long range... at close range spraying isn't as much of a problem so long as you pull down on your mouse to control the recoil... but in general if you're careful in how you move about you can avoid situations where you get taken by surprise (or at least be more prepared for them). Stick to the AK / M4 at first since they are quite good to use...

Dont overestimate the sound of footsteps - take advantage of the ability to stand still or walk. This enables you to be silent and listen out for the enemy running into you.

I still find myself being destroyed. Pulling down on the mouse got me a kill that I probably wouldn't of got yesterday but it feels as if I'm going to be missing most of the time.

Also I keep finding players that should be in competitive rather than casual and they end up scoring something like 24-4 with the AK.

The M4 has 1 bar less damage than the AK which I think is unfair until we get our silencers back.

Maintaining trigger/bullet discipline is quite hard in this game, because you have such a short amount of time in which to react to human players.

A couple of things to note:

Try tapping the mouse instead of holding it down. It generally only takes 2 or 3 hits to kill someone, so you want to make sure those shots connect. Tapping instead of holding reduces recoil.

Crouching focuses the aim reticule, so over long distance your shots are more accurate. However, you become a static/slow moving target, so there's a trade off there.

Learn the map, be aware of corners and keep your head on a swivel!

(sorry if i'm stating things you may already know)

I have the silver badge, for playing 10 hours of the community maps. Doing 50 hours for a gold badge seems a bit much though!

I haven't played much of CS:GO. but i did play a lot of original counter-strike. you're only going to get better with time. learning when you pick your attacks and where people will be. that's where youll start seeing improvements. getting your 1-2 headshots with strafing and a quick tap will serve you well. you'll also learn the distances that you can start spraying at. out of all fps games ive played. this is the one that takes time and experience

I looked at the screenshots and the characters look very cartoon like and the player models as well, they don't appear to render well with the graphics engine, they almost stand out a bit too much. The hand and gun models suffer from the same cartoon look, i think it looks worse than the previous version, anyone else think so?

What are the other major changes from cs:s it looks like they have just improved textures on the same maps, like they did going from cs to cs:s. Is there any other improvements like sound or similar?
