CS:GO Discussion

Feel free to add me if you want to play some games spudwave is my main account, and spudles is my alt account, a good few of us have smurf/alt accounts.

Yea like someone else said dm is not ranked so you could simply have been unlucky and got in a server with some very good players. Hacks are not as prolific in my expirence as some make out, but watching the war owls podcast type thing about hacking valve should adopt what titan fall does and it doesn't ban hackers it doesn't even tell them they've been caught it just puts them in a separate queuing system with other hackers so they can still play but only against other hackers.

I have noticed that CS is very different to what it used to be. I need to get to grips with how it all works. I found the main page to be a little bit daunting. I have an inventory of sorts, but I dont know what I am supposed to do with it. Although I did change my loadout to include the classic silenced M4! (it wasn't in there as default for some reason). Seems like I am supposed to be earning money and buying stuff or something?

Is there any reason why so many people have smurf accounts?

Last night I played offline against bots for a while on DM with random weapons. Some were better than others. I found the P90 to be very effective. However, on some occasions I noticed what may have been a glitch, perhaps with the changes in crosshair size when going from standing to crouched or something? I would use the crosshair to aim but when I fired the animation of the rounds would appear some distance above my crosshair and I would actually be shooting over the enemies head even though my crosshair was on their chest. It happened a few times, but did not seem to be anything to do with recoil. Was a bit weird. Kind of like what it might look like if you changed your FOV.

What is the deal with everyone wearing masks too? Kind of gives the game a cartoon feeling akin to team fortress. Is this a permanent feature now? I don't know why but it annoys me for some reason. Totally irrational, but I just don't like it! :p

I think Titanfall does a lot of things right. I also think the hit reg is really good too, although many may disagree. Thing is, I don't struggle to hit people in titanfall. In CS I do. I accept that the weapons in CS are more simulated, but the weapons in Titanfall also have recoil and spread, and yet they just seem to work when taking aim. As far as I know Titanfall uses a tickrate of 66, which is not as good as it could be, but much better than more recent shooters (BF4 lol). What does CS:GO use in general servers? I have read it uses 128 for pro level comp matches and 64 in all other servers. Is that right?

Last night I tried opening the community server browser , but the game closed and nothing else happened. Is that normal?

One thing I have to get out of the habit of is ironsights. So many times last night I started taking my silencer off the M4 because I am so used to RMB being ironsights. lol :p (Damn you Titanfall!)

There are skins which have no impact on the game which get dropped or you can buy to make guns look more colourful. There are a few choices you can make in inventory (m4a1-silencer, USP-S/P2000 and TEC-9 from memory).

So they can play with lower rank people without risking their hard earned rank I think. Or to just grief "noobs".

Sounds like recoil to me?

Its only for Halloween it will be gone in a week or so.

All MM servers are 64tick and other servers it depends who is renting/paying for it.

No

Yeah habits are hard to kill.
Attempted to answer your questions.

Finally ranked up to Gold Nova! I probably shouldn't have started MM after a 4 year break so my starting rank after 10 matches was silver 2.

Although my first game after Ranking up to GN was probably the worst match I've ever played (2:18 or something) against a team of GN 3/4. Haha! Always learning!!

Thanks

Re the recoil, the reason why I said it was weird was because it was like the point at which the projectiles originated was nowhere near my weapon. Like the actual FOV of the weapon had moved backwards and upwards but what I saw on my screen had not, if that makes sense? I can't really explain it properly, other than to say it did not appear to be recoil because it only happened about 3 times in an hour of play and it was so strange it made me stop and think "erm thats werid".

Glad the masks are not supposed to be permanent. Having said that, neither were hats in TF2, and look what that led to! :p

Hoping to get some time in on this over the weekend. Note to self - aim for the head!! :D

I will try and answer some of the question.

I have noticed that CS is very different to what it used to be. I need to get to grips with how it all works. I found the main page to be a little bit daunting. I have an inventory of sorts, but I dont know what I am supposed to do with it.
The inventory is a collection of your weapon skins/keys/cases. when you buy skins, earn skins or open them in crates they will appear. they dont help with aim or improve the gun in any way but they are addictive. my advise is, if you want a skin just but it from the market place and dont open cases to try and get it. you can open hundreds of cases (£1.50 per key) and only get 20p or lower skins. yet you might open one or 2 cases and get a knife drop worth £100 (YES, BIGBUD im looking at you)

the gun skins range in price anywhere from 3p to £200. check here for the current selling prices and to see the skins http://csgostash.com/

Although I did change my loadout to include the classic silenced M4! (it wasn't in there as default for some reason).
you would have the M4A4 as standard, each is suited to a different style of play. i tend to tap shoot so the lower recoil of the M4A1-S suits me better, if you like to spray more the M4A4 is better and has a higher number of bullets.

Seems like I am supposed to be earning money and buying stuff or something?
you earn money during the rounds to buy guns the following rounds, the money you earn in game has no affect once that game is finished. ive detailed what you can buy above.

Is there any reason why so many people have smurf accounts?
a lot of people have lower ranked people on their friends list, people with high ranks will push up the overall lobby rank so they have a smurf account with (generally) a lower rank so they can lobby with others to make it somewhat fairer for there friends.

for example, the other night we had a lobby of 2 silvers, 2 GN's and a DMG. we got lobbied against single and double ak players.

sounds like the recoil to me. youtube the guns, you'll see the recoil patterns detailed.

its just for halloween, not a permanent thing.

there's recoil in titanfall??? you aim and shoot and the bullets go where you aim.

have you ever fired a real gun?

titanfall = nothing like real life recoil.
csgo = more like reality.

general MM is 64tick. most competition/private servers are 128tick

when you start taking the silencer off either the M4A1-s or USP-s scroll the mouse wheel up and then back. it will stop you taking it off.

Thanks, that is a really helpful post :)

Yes there is definitely recoil in Titanfall. It is safe to say it is not as severe as CSGO, but it is definitely there :) You wont get far in titan fall without using controlled firing, but it is true to say it is nowhere near as pronounced as the more simulated recoil in CSGO. So far I still think the hit reg feels better in Titanfall, but it is early days on CSGO for me, so that view may change.

See my above post about the recoil thing I have tried to explain a bit better what was happening.

Wait what.......people are actually buying knives worth £200 of real money? That is crazy. Do they actually change the price for the differences in currency, or is like Scammerside 2 where the item of $25 becomes £25 when you switch the currency tab to pounds?

Going to be hitting CSGO hard tonight, and over the weekend. Tribes is still fubar at the moment, and I just can't be bothered with it. Hirez have taken a game with amazing potential and abandoned it. The state of the servers just feels like the next step to them closing it down completely. Like when they completely deleted the support forums without telling anyone :(

Only bet on both Dig - iBP games. iBP do very badly against EU teams, but they do well against US teams.

Steelseries Sensei is laser and Rival is optical but I think they'll use whatever their sponsors tell them to use and its not a giant difference between the two

Ive heard optical is best too but I think its also how well the product fits together overall and just personal preference

I bet vp to beat ldlc because I thought odds were off a bit and also ibp will also probably lose to fnatic but saw them at 10% so small underdog bets.
Sat bets are prob more uncertain
