Just playing around on a few Deathmatch servers - the ones where you choose your weapons - and i managed a decent score of 70 kills to 45 deaths or so...which is pretty good for me! :o

Either way, just wondering if it's anyone else's choice of weapon? Any tips? My default is M4/AK but it depends on the map...

I'm always curious about AWP'ers anyways and generally screenwatch people. :)

I prefer the AK. It can be as accurate as the AWP once you crack it and much more fun.

As for the AWP: keep a steady hand and don't always aim at the body (aim infront or behind) as the hit boxes can be odd.

I always used to use it when i played CSS, i dont play it that much now but have started to get back into it. The best way of training is just playing against bots. Play on a private server with as many bots on the opposing team as you can handle. Then increase as you become more confident.

The second way is to jsut train, theirs no other way unfortunately imo, and having so much skill in the weapon does usually take quite some time. I used to practise 3 hours every day with it and thought i was pretty decent until i stopped and became addicted to WoW :\.

Eurgh bots, play against real people.

Bots are only good for practicing flick shots / dragshots on though but real players take acover etc when being shot at.

Mmm, i haven't experimented much with the AK but it does seem awesome for the short burst over a long distance.

Right, i'll try that...i'm going to use it all the time on Deathmatch for a few hours, see how i go...i am getting pretty good at predicting the movements of people so i know where to aim. :)

70% of learning the AWP is coping with the amount of people whining and moaning at you for daring to buy one.

Oh so true! :p

With an AK you can fire a burst or spray a bit around the legs and the recooil will lead up and usually get a headshot, easy to get kills with. The first two shots are very accurate so it can be good for longer ranges too.
With the AWP, it's not as accurate as the scout so don't really expect to move to the side and shoot at the same time and kill the person like with a scout, as it isn't likely to hit them.

make sure uve always got an angle, i.e. through the doors, at a chokepoint, for instance on inferno @ banana on cts always hold banana rush point entrance (the angle where u can see just the entrance), pick 1 and then move back a bit and fight a different angle. its all about physics and angles

You kid surely? Why would anyone put so much effort into the game :o

Wasn't really every day was usually at 4 days in the week but i was in a clan and needed to practise tactics etc. I also found playinc CS/CSS was a great way to train for other games also. Increased my accuracy in Americas army when i used to play that. It wasn't bots all the time though i used bots for 30 mins before joining my team and practising. Also a good method is to have mates jump out from places randomly and test your reaction timing.

You can't really learn how to use an AWP. You pick it up, shoot anyone in any part of the body and they instadie. Awful overused overpowerful weapon. Requires no skill what so ever.

AWP does require a certain degree of skill. Just not as much as anything else.

AK47 and M4 are my favourite weapons. I will sometimes go with the AWP if I fancy some easy frags though.
