Custom Loop Order

basically choose which you want and fit your finances. I have used pretty much all of them and the actual compression fittings i have never had a problem with. When it comes to extra fittings that is when things get more complicated

XPSC - Cheap and cheerful, but will they last?
EK - Since I've been given some, I'm going to use these but need to keep the colour scheme - was looking at other chrome fittings
Bitspower - Renounced for quality but not cheap

How come no monsoon. quality is just as good as bitspower.

I own ek/bitspower/monsoon/Koolance/xspc and some others.

I would actually say monsoon are better but bitspower have a far better range and different sorts/bends/ ect ect

I think Monsoon is kind of a special one.

I have no idea how their paint coat are, coz they are only out very lately, at least I only know of them when OcUK introduces them.

And also, their design is a lot different to the classic fittings, which does not really fit everyone.

Lastly, their tool tightening method is kind of unnecessary, you will most likely scratch the paint with any tools and they rarely need tool tightening anyway...

But personally, I like their look, I just like Bitspower more :)

Maybe it's just me, but I have had a number of Koolance angled fitting.

But the rotatory joint is a bit too flexible (i.e. 90 degree joint can flex easily), giving me quite a bit of worry so that I ended up taking the fitting off and exchange with Bitspower ones. :(

And their paint coat is far worse than Bitspower ones - but one thing is true, THEY ARE CHEAP :)
 
XSPC are very good for their price (not saying it just because they are a sponsor, they really are decent)
EK - Very good, but over priced
Koolance - i really do like the old style fittings, not used anything since, their old ones were very good.
Monsoon, dependant on what the fittings are for. the Hardline fittings are the biggest pain in the arse ive ever come across, UV reactive glue and non re usable sleeves make these my nemesis. the normal fittings are very good though.

I've only ever used their standard compressions no angled fittings. I haven't had any issues with the paint yet(maybe fun to come) it's definitely not as pretty as the bits power ones no argument there. At the end of the day they're relativly cheap and grip like a vice (more than I can say for my monsoon experience).

Annoyingly though I just had a look after reading davidolabido comment about the new versions, I've just realised I've ordered the new *black* ones instead of the older style I had :(. I hope they're the same quality!
 
Bitspower are the Apple of water cooling, their stuff is no better than most others but they look so cool.

I have used many brands over the years and IMO for straight/angled barbs/compressions it doesn't make a shred of difference as you are basically buying solid hunks of metal or nylon, there's nothing to go wrong really. The only place where it makes matters is rotaries as they can leak out the join, in that respect I think branded > unbranded but the isn't much of a difference between brands, I have had just as many issues with BP rotaries as with XSPC ones.

One thing that does come to mind though is don't mix US/EU brands as the can be discrepancies between the inches and mm measurements.
 
ive no idea what the new ones are like, ive not tried them, they could be the same, i just didnt want to recommend them without knowing the quality. I know the older ones were decent, i still have 8 of them still looking fantastic!

up to a point i agree with you, but then again, i have been sent a lot of generic non branded fittings lately and i can tell the quality difference between them and some of the more expensive brands. but yeah, certain brands you are paying for the name as well.....

I think I may be getting confused here. Are the ones you have these;

(Obviously size doesn't matter) just the ones I have have a shiny gold koolance logo the ones I suspect as new(these ones) only have a dull black colour.
 
yeah they are the ones i have, well, the bigger daddys of them. I bought them around 2 years ago. i believe they have updated them since though!! i could be wrong as ive not looked into fittings for some time.
 
O right. I wonder where mine came from then lol. Google image search doesn't bring up images of the ones I have (with gold logo). My OCUK order also shows I ordered the "black" ones shown in that product link :confused:.

What is it with me and fittings :D.

Do whatever that makes the most sense in terms of order inside your case. But you GENERALLY want the majority of your pumps pressure in the blocks. So Pump --> blocks.


I really do hope you're not getting a piece of **** pump. But im sure you already chose a d5 without having to read the thread or ask you...

Also about fittings. I just use cheap ass barbs with zipties, its cheap and easier to tighten in some areas because if you cant fit your hand to screw a compression fitting you're ****ed :D. Ive had no leaks because i make sure they're tight. And my zipties are black so they look decent :)

I dont think you understand...

For the first few seconds when you fill the loop with water you wanna push all the air out of the blocks and you wanna do it before the water completes 1 loop. Or else you're gonna have to shake your PC. Unless ofcourse OP is smart and gets a DDC pump.

On another note - There are some fantastic people on this forum, I've just been offered another 12 EK compression fittings - I appreciate your support & patience! Thanks :)
