cutting guinea pigs teeth?

Take it to the bloody vets you fool.

Edit: And you should put one of those gnawing things in so the teeth don't grow too long in the future.

So rather than take the poor little thing to a vet, with the small chance that it might die, your folks have decided to do a bit of DIY, and kill it themselves?

Yea I think so, my parents cant afford it apparently, I said use the overdraft then.

I don't know whats up with him, seems he improved abit, my mum called the vets she was getting upset, he was just laying down and I picked him up and put him on my lap and it's weird, it's like his breathing is slowing down and his sides are puffing up and back down every second like a big heartbeat but don't know if it's his breathing, my mum was like he wont last the day :(

They are going to take it to the vet not his condition seems to have gone for the worse since attempting to cut his teeth.

My dad did not do it in the end, he said he dare not cause he was twitching too much, glad they did not, hopefully he'll survive but it did seem like he was dieing! :(

They're incredibly delicate little things and don't deal with stress at all well.

Hopefully it hasn't scared him too much but what you describe would worry me quite honestly! :(

I'm sure the vet will let you know what to expect and whether he'll be ok.

gt

Edit: I wish him the best of luck but i certainly don't appreciate the treatment your parents have possibly subjected him too.

I hope he's ok :( , glad they didn't do it themselves.

People really need to properly consider the financial implications of owning a pet.

Sorry, but your parents are irresponsible morons. :(
I hope he manages to recover from such a horrible ordeal. And I hope your parents actually stop to think next time.

They took him to the vets, they have 20mins to get there the vet said the vets have something important to do so if they don't get there by 1pm then they'll refuse to have a look at the pig.

Will be keeping my fingers crossed.

What?

Yes this thread was for real your comment makes no sense apart from being a troll.....

Anyway he's home, had his teeth clipped, told to watch him they think he's old and that's about it.

Good good! :)

Keep him comfortable and fed with his favourite greens (our one likes spinach, celery leaves, carrot stalks and baby sweetcorn best) and hopefully he'll be right as rain in no time. :D

Yea will do.

We put him back in his outside pen on the grass and he was stood up and his head was sort of nodding each time he had a breath, then he just flopped down on his side, so he's getting old and he wont be with us much longer :(, but we've had him about 4 years now, I think he might be about 5 human years old so toward the end of his life.

Shame we could not get the rabbit and pig to live together.

Very glad to hear he's home and hopefully on the mend :)
I hope the vet had a go at your parents for their diy treatment :/

Although it can work, it's generally not a good idea at all. Rabbits can kick very hard at a guinea pig which doesn't end well at all. So it's for the best that they don't live together.
