Cyberpunk 2077 Ultra performance

Hold on, you went and bought a RTX 3070? :p

Seems all the AMD boys be buying Nvidia these days.

I've never understood why folks are happy with one company gaining market dominance. You do realise what that will mean for consumers in the future don't you?

You know, I've noticed what you said happening. It was because exactly those elements you mentioned started loading in more slowly, but curiously this happened in a situation when the streaming bugged out and some models didn't load at all (eg for chests etc but you could still interact with them just fine), like what I said was happening when I bumped streaming distances too high except this time I only had distanceboost at 60 and I played for many hours with it fine. I think there's definitely something going on where a change gets triggered in the streaming system and it performs poorly, almost like base console mode gets engaged. Very strange situation.
I'm experiencing this too as it is not consistent, it's like something in the engine eventually breaks and it is unable to stream the correct content in.
My suspicions are that there is a max memory limit built in with the streaming/culling. The game has loaded in too much background detail and cannot delete it. This then means some important detail around you cannot load in or is delayed until something eventually gets removed.

It's also possible that the visibility check is broken too. So it is not always correctly detecting what is visible on screen( through doors/behind cars).

Maybe this feature is built around the PS5/seriesX fast memory and on pc with multiple configs it is experiencing higher latency at times loading into memory.

Nah. I could have had loads of 3070FE’s, they drop all the time. Only just yesterday a bunch of people bought them.

Why are you quoting me? Where have I indicated I want one company to gain market share?

Nope, I didn't part any money. I would rather have an RX 6800XT for which I've had the money ready for some time but AMD has decided that stock is not important for PC so I'm gonna wait as I refuse to pay 100% greed tax to get it.

EDIT: The card was payment though worth around 5000 DKK which is 609GBP which is just too much money for an x70 class card but had no other options if I wanted to get paid.

My problem with DLSS is not the slight blur, which is rather easy to fix with a bit of sharpening, but rather the very annoying but faint ghost image of certain things. I've seen tires having a ghosting effect when driving fast or iron sights having certain colors of it sorta ghost. This is at 1440p using DLSS quality. Before the Nvidia defense force comes running I would like to add that I'm sitting here with an RTX 3070 from where I've seen these things first hand. If they somehow could eliminate this and add a version that can run on all DX11/DX12/Vulkan titles I would say it's a very cool piece of tech, however, it still has some way to go before I'm gonna be impressed. It's not equal to native, but the basic idea of what it does is useful we just need to keep the silly marketing out of it.
Fair point, I was not aware of the ghosting until I saw the GN video. I agree, this makes some blurring seem tame in comparison.

I don't think people are happy with the GPU market, which is why we were all looking for competition. People buying Nvidia, including myself, are buying the best product in the price range.

If RDNA2 had better RT performance and DLSS v2 like support then I'd have bought AMD's 6800XT. Maybe AMD will take the lead in ~18months earning my cash in the process.

DLSS does help but you have to accept the drawback and in some cases they are bad. For example if there is somwhere a lot of flies are about, then the ghosting makes it look like a dotted line drawing.

At 1440p with a 3080 I've only noticed DLSS ghosting with the Balanced setting and then it was due to my 3770k struggling with CP2077 and a couple of forgotten sandboxed Firefox sessions with a total of more than 400 tabs open. I'd guess the lower your FPS goes, the fewer frames DLSS has to work with resulting in ghosting. I've not noticed it with the Quality option in use with RT physco and everything else maxed high/ultra.

I see it clearly no matter the framerate and I play at a locked 74fps without RT.

That makes it sound more like monitor response. Can you grab a screenshot displaying it? Do you use Nvidia's low latency ultra setting?
Stop okay :), It is DLSS. The ghosting of certain objects is there with it on but gone with it off, the same framerate. It's not a monitor problem.

same. 1440 UW, DLSS quality, psycho and rest maxed. 0 complaints here.

Probably the smugness I detected from your post with regards to AMD folks buying Nvidia this time around? That might be why.
You are obviously new around here and not very familiar with my posts. Most if not all my posts are light hearted jokes. Maybe you are just projecting, because if you really knew me you would know I also really want to see AMD do well and get back to having 50% or more market share. That said I buy whatever suits my needs best at the time. I am no fanboy and have no reason to be smug. Go click on my sig, I have probably purchased more amd cards than you have. So yeah, please stop judging a book by its cover and stop rolling your eyes at me ;)

PC-specific

  • [AMD SMT] Optimized default core/thread utilization for 4-core and 6-core AMD Ryzen(tm) processors. 8-core, 12-core and 16-core processors remain unchanged and behaving as intended. This change was implemented in cooperation with AMD and based on tests on both sides indicating that performance improvement occurs only on CPUs with 6 cores and less.
  • Fixed an issue with the way Raw Input is collected.
  • Removed the use of AVX instruction set thus fixing crashes occurring at the end of the Prologue on processors not supporting AVX.
  • Removed debug console to prevent functions that could lead to crashes or blocked quests. This doesn’t mean we don’t want to support the modding community. Stay tuned for more info on that.
  • Ray traced reflections should no longer seem too bright in comparison to the environment.
  • Fixed an issue with Steam Overlay crash on game shutdown.
  • Removed the memory_pool_budgets.csv file. which was not connected with the final version of the game and had no influence on it (it was a leftover file used during the development to estimate memory usage. It had no effect on how much memory was actually allocated). Perceived performance increase after editing the file may have been related to restarting the game.

  • Settings should no longer reset to default after several game session restarts.
  • Fixed visual issues occurring during the transition between The Heist and Love Like Fire.
