*** Cyberpunk 2077 ***

Well that's an anti-climax - downloaded on Steam on Friday, in anticipation of a weekend of gaming indulgence playing this, applied a patch waiting on Steam this morning and ... the bloody thing can't/won't even get past the CDPR launcher before crashing.

It looks like its not installed correctly, try running the scan/repair files.

Starting to see the beauty is only skin deep.

Hundreds of NPC's, but they glitch into each other, and interaction is severely limited. When talking to them they won't change facial expression or even move their mouth, they won't look in your direction, and they'll repeat the same single line each time.

The traffic. Cars phase in/out of reality, disappear in the distance, if something is the road everyone just sits there and waits, doing nothing.

Visually it's impressive, but there's very little depth to the open world.

I got a similar impression from watching bits of freeroam gameplay, seems this is still far from RDR2 in this regard. I'm really starting to appreciate how far that game pushed stuff like this with all the details and stuff. The setting is just my cup of tea and looks great, though, so I'll definitely want to play CP just for Night City alone but I'll set my expectations at "good to very good game with some bugs and a great setting".

You'll have to excuse my ignorance, as I've never had to do that before - is that from within Steam or within Windows itself?

Not sure if he meaning this but if it is. Left click on the game name, open Properties => Tab: Local Files => Verify Integrity of Game Files.

Another option that might not be popular. Refund it back to Steam. Buy it from GOG directly. If it not working through their Launcher still, use the EXE file directly. Other users here have said that works for them.

Its ironic that people seem to think this is fully finished game on release given the past history of every game AAA released in the past 10 years.

Looking forward to picking this when the first DLC is about to drop and the majority of issues have been sorted, see you in 6-12 months :)

I never played TW3 but this feels a bit like The Division in the bullet spongeyness and guided experience where you have to follow a sort of set path and not everything can be interacted with.

You never played WHAT...

Great game to be honest. Even for its age it still looks and plays fantastic on pc. A must play IMO.

Yep do that, I don't have steam installed so wasn't sure what it was called.

I just walked to the co-op for some rolls and bacon. Absolutely terrible that no-one spoke / interacted with me on the way :( Even the girl behind the counter just scanned my things and demanded payment. Edinburgh is such an empty void of a City.

Yup, I thought the Witcher 3 was astounding. Still do tbh, looks amazing even now 5 years later, especially with texture packs. Looking forward to the RT patch.

Having some issues this morning with screen tearing, played it for a hour so last night completed tutorial and did a couple of missions and it was playing perfectly, started up this morning and its horrific and haven't made any changes to any of the settings so not sure whats up, enabling vsync didnt seem to help either

Quick question, I want to do a non-lethal play through, at some point you get an eye implant which you can attach mods to, one such mod turns all your guns non-lethal does anyone have any idea of how to get this early on?

Kind of agree with this,I'm enjoying the main story even though there is lots of graphical bugs and glitches but I just cannot see what part of this game represents 8 years of development.

Just to add I also reckon they tore the game apart adding ray tracing features at some point and also broke everything. While static the normal lighting and shadows look ok but in movement light/shadows/SSR create so much noise it's like there is a halo around characters(bad taa?).
Lighting from street/normal lights disappears and reappear at short distances. Walking through doors and reversing back outyou will see lighting/items disappear too. Really breaks it in first person mode as you walk through and stuff pops in like that

The world is dead it's just zombies that disappear and reappear and bump into eachother. If you go near busy roads this causes cars to spawn on eachother tumble and explode.

Well it's because it isn't 8 years of development really. The Devs said in 2018 that the game only moved from a small team of I believe <50 devs which began in 2013 into full pre-production in May 2016 after they finished up The final dlc for witcher 3 Blood and Wine so could move the rest of the studio over to it. Anything between 2013 - 2016 was likely just whiteboxing various systems/testing early mechanics etc.

I'm enjoying it personally, I've had a few bugs but thankfully nothing a slightly earlier save reload hasn't fixed thus far! That being said I didn't go in with any particularly lofty expectations, whilst I loved the story and lore of W3/W2/W1 the games all had pretty glaring faults. This feels like it will follow a similar path. It's still the closest to a modern deus ex than the recent ones (HR and MD were ok but still felt quite limited).

I got a mod but it was for pistols only. Not sure if it was a completely random drop or not :|

Just done the same, only person that spoke to me was the beggar sitting outside.

Hahaha, post of the year :D

Yeah you can get weapon specific mods, you need a modable weapon and it needs to be an energy weapon from what I've been told, so it kinda stuns them rather than kill them.

Right now I'm in act 1 and I know that if I go into the flathead mission you're forced into an encounter where you're in combat with Dum Dum who is the kinda right hand man of that gang. There's various ways of actually going through that mission as I've tried various scenarios that change the outcome but they all result in some kind of combat where you're shoved out in the open in front of enemies who are blasting you, so you need to shoot back but I can't.

In my first play through before I restarted to respec my character I deffo did get that eye mod at some point shortly after you get the eye implant, and so did my friend on his play through, so it makes me think you can pick it up somewhere I'm just not sure where. There doesn't appear to be vendors that I can find that will sell you implant mods, you can goto ripperdocs to get brand new implants but not the mods you slot into the implants it seems. Nor can I seem to craft them, or see anything in the upgrade trees that allows crafting of implant mods.

Anyone got any ideas? Is there other non-leathal weapons that'll beat Dum Dum in a fight, I'm considering just brawling with him but I'm not sure if you defeat an enemy with fists it actually kills them or wounds? Jackie is with you in that area and will kill the other normal mobs for you but for some reason if you leave him to fight Dum Dum he doesn't do any damage to him, i guess because Dum Dum is basically a special NPC.

well I have a hilarious bug. Dum Dum is pretty much my companion now. He goes on every mission with me and fights for me. Weird as hell bug.

Thanks @Mik3 and @TheSwede - have just run that Verify option within Steam and as a result it's now re-downloading 17GB-worth of files. I'm off out in a bit anyway, so it can finish off in time for when I get back. If that doesnt work, screw it, I'll go down the GOG route.

Apparently the Nvidia Experience overlay can be problematic as well according to a Google search, so I've turned that off - not that I ever used it.
