*** Cyberpunk 2077 ***

TBH, as long as they keep people in the loop, I'd rather they took a step back and the time to rebuild the game with a fuller ray tracing implementation, weather and physics and complete overhaul of the RPG mechanics, clothing system and basically how a lot of stuff like that works to make it less clunky and more meaningful. There is a lot of solid stuff in the game but it has been badly glued together and there are tons of side-story opportunities, etc. with stuff already existing in the world which just lacks for a bit of a script, etc.

I just think they'd be better off making Cyberpunk 2 from scratch, and use the new Unreal engine.

Same here. Get 80% of the team on that and leave the rest to finish the expansion/dlc and remaining bugs on the original.

Cyberpunk 2 on the latest unreal engine would be awesome. I guess we will see it by end of the dacade.

After finishing Elden Ring *flex* I've decided to give this another go but I was never happy with how it ran on my 2070 so I've decided to try the Geforce Now 3080 tier for a month and see what it's like. I was sceptical going in but it runs and plays lovely. I was never able to max out RTX before.

Has anyone else tried it?

Edit. Not hearing my fans ramp up is a bit odd.

Only one DLC looks to be coming out before CDPR abandon this game. That DLC ships next year:

Shame I have to say.
Indeed. Though I do want them to move onto the seque asap on a proper engine so they can release what they originally promised or something even better.

Such a massive shame but by potentially ditching the game so quickly after release it seems that, yet again, CD: PR is once more screwing the fans who paid money based on a post-release promise of multiple expansions. I was one of the luck ones who could play without any game-breaking bugs at release so I had a really good experience but I think I'm burnt by CD: PR and won't consider anything else they release just to avoid being in the same situation again.

You people continue amazing me. We already know they are working on one large expansion. That will be released next year. Because this was announced a while back.

They released the game, and next two and a half years keep working on it, and you lot are whining about lack of post release support. Incredible.

Now, maybe the expansion will be terrible. Or maybe it will be amazing. But let's leave the judgements until we play it, shall we?

Whatever it is they fixed so far makes no difference to me as it is not what they hyped and I doubt even with the expansion they will provide what they promised. What exactly have they done the past year or so? Squashed bugs is all I can see? This is coming from someone who enjoyed the game for what it was on launch…

Can‘t blame people being disappointed in my opinion. That is CD Projects fault for not deliverI got what they hyped. That is why I just want them to move on to a proper engine and release a sequel and hopefully actually deliver on what was initially hyped.

What we have right now is good, but it is NOT what we were promised at every press release and interview/showcase etc. The point is everyone has a right to be annoyed at the game being abandoned after one expansion when much more was promised for so long.

It is pretty clear that the Red Engine isn't up to what they envisioned and are now focusing on UE5 instead because it's so much simpler to work with and create a game world with relatively little effort.

Even though I have put a couple hundred hours into the game, it is very clearly a game that was over-promised and as a result has under-delivered. Will the expansion be what it was meant to be? I'd hope so but the gut tells me it will not be and will just add a little bit of city expansion in areas previously off limits and then add some new content amassing to a few more hours gameplay and not much else because the above detail points to them having no more interest in RED engine.

Doesn't help they pretty much glued together what they had working as best they could to get it out the door. The engine might not be up to the hyped up vision of the game but it is still very capable of producing a more polished version of a game like CP2077 turned out to be.

For me that is the least of the problems though really. They completely failed on so many areas where they could have basically just cribbed from the many games which have got them right over the years such as the agency afforded via conversation systems, clothing and crafting mechanics, upgrade trees and just ease of interfacing with the game in general i.e. key binds.

One big expansion then get on with new version in UE5 sounds good to me, the company needs to be able to change roadmaps depending on different circumstances. We can't expect them to just trudge through several expansions based on roadmaps from 2 years ago. Imagine it'll get hard for them to potentially get and retain staff with skills in their old engine compared to the amount of people with experience with UE

Finally caved and bought it just now. Will have a gander and see how it runs with my 2070. EDIT: Wow... forgot how bad wifi is for downloading. In the very corner of the house, as my parents are visiting, and had to free up the spare room. So instead of being on gigabit ethernet with 80 to 100 meg download speed, I'm on wifi doing about 5 or 6 meg per second. It'll be a while....

LOL - sadly after moving to a rural area 5-6MB/s is a good day for me :( had to DL CP2077 overnight.

Yes I had 4G for few years there as no fibre in rural for me. I think it took me 3 nights to download the big patch as I had to wait for the family to go to bed in case they were using the broadband.

I finally got fibre a few weeks ago and I can actually download games in minutes as opposed to days.. ahh was nice to be back in 2001 again!! (was one of the first users of cable modem back when NTL were about before virgin).

Just curious but do you see Jackie again in any meaningful way after the incident ? I read somewhere ages ago that if you choose a certain option he comes back digitally, His mind is saved. Honestly think he is the best character in the game and removing him from the story like 5% the way through was such a massive mistake on CDPR's part, The rest of the characters are bland in comparison IMO.

The area I live in has at the most 2MB/s, I would slap a goose for 6MB/s :D

I've not seen him again in any meaningful way - just some odd snippets mostly related to getting his bike, etc. but couldn't say if that is a possibility in the game or not - there seems to be some oddities in the game in that some people have things happen no one else seems to, etc. for instance for me I had an ending which doesn't fit neatly with any of the supposed possible endings.

EDIT: From a quick look it seems some people have found ways to break the game so it doesn't remove his animated standing model in certain places after he dies - but you can't interact with him.

yeah think it depends on where you send his body. Mama Wells offers the funeral, Vik offers digital Jackie in a later mission. I've not done that path though so no idea on the dialogue you get. Both paths you can get his bike, but if you are a nomad you can get the upgraded bike (just a tiny difference). There's quite a lot of small branches like that in the game, hard to find them all yourself

Kinda what prompted.me.to get Cyberpunk. Daughter started a download on same wifi channel whilst i was playing Apex legends and ping went to 800ms lol.

Hopefully gonna be a fun time with CP. Will officially start it tonight. Wanted to play it for a long time but negative reviews and all the bugs put me off.

A goose slap might be enough to get you that 6...
However, back when I was only on 0.7Mbps, I kicked a moose in the nuts and punched a bear, before doing a full-on cage fight with a gorilla, in order to secure 900+Mbps fibre. One of the best things I've done in the past two decades, I'd say!!

So what did CP2077 promise but fail to deliver, exactly?
About the only letdown for me, aside from the few bugs that I find in most games these days, was that I didn't have a GPU sufficiently powerful to enjoy the wonderful graphics on max settings. I have sunk several hundred hours into the game, more even than I did with Skyrim.

Hahahahahaha my desk thanks you for the tea it received XD

For me the only real let down was the aforementioned character being KO'd early.
