*** Cyberpunk 2077 ***

I played through this on the gaming PC years ago and recently put it on the laptop to test but kept playing past the Jackie bit. Seems like a good place to stop before 2.0 lands. I think it's in a good place now but the way they talk about it being an overhaul makes it sound like it'll play completely differently.

Yeah am past the intro stuff myself so a few hours in, and think that I may as well wait now as well and experience the rest with 2.0 release. I've just read that is likely the September drop along with the DLC.

If the update is big enough I may consider a fresh playthrough. If not I may just continue from my save file and then maybe in a year or so do a fresh playthrough at that point.

What is changing in the original game?

I completed this game when it came out years ago. Heard there have been some expansions and new stuff added, would it be worth playing again ?

1.63 the current patch is very good, if you haven't played for a while its worth a shot.

Phantom Liberty isn't out until late September so you have plenty of time until then, CDPR will be releasing patch 2.0 between now and then which will dramatically change the base game as well.

Yeah 1.6 was big.

What changes to the base game are coming aside from a new skill tree?

Ooof. Off the top of my head:

Re-worked cops - they arrive in cars (and will chase you), and get progressively tougher the more your crime level goes up - ending up with MaxTac (Cyber-Psycho squad) coming to take you down if you annoy them enough.

You'll be able to fire your weapon from inside your vehicle (including bikes - you can also use your katana on a bike I believe).

Extra quick ability slot added (for Cyberware, grenades etc.)

New weapons.

Probably a ton of stuff I'm forgetting :)

Ok thanks. More like GTA cops and features then. I wonder if they'll make changes to the map too.

Still makes me laugh that NPC kids int his are just randomly playing around with guns:

You can't shoot kids, but if the AI was advanced enough for NPCs, they'd probably shoot you no doubt :p

Still amazed by how good the city looks though, whether path traced or Psycho ray traced doesn't seem to matter, the ambience is all there with RTGI as the baseline.

And don't recall noticing before, but the grass is very finely detailed with AO/GI:

Hopefully I'll see it for myself soon. I'm changing monitors. I can't stand the IPS glow.

Oh yes! When I first played through this game I was on IPS too (34" ultrawide, and yes indeed IPS glow did take away some of the immersion that this game has given the night scenes in this, but back then the game's art style had really faded blacks so you didn't miss out on too much anyway. It wa sonly in much later patches when they implemented proper ray tracing and other stuff did the black levels reach a point where it actually made sense to play it on OLED, so the experience now vs when it launched is very different if you are gaming on an OLED

I can't as I work on the same monitor so it'll burn in. I've ordered a VA UW. I hope the ghosting isn't too bad.
