*** Cyberpunk 2077 ***

Weird how it goes. On one hand you got some people saying the improvements are huge and it’s the best thing since sliced bread, then you got the post above saying the AI is crap.

Has got to be biases surely. I get the feeling the truth once again lies somewhere in between.

There are still issues with the AI but this feels more like the game they wanted to release.
^This basically.

I don't think it's biases, much like the original launch, many thought the AI was crap then too, but many also saw past that and enjoyed what was on offer. the AI is much better now, but still has its issue, and yet the fun levels are much much higher because of the changes, so once again many of us are seeing past that. Whereas there are other new games that completely lack the immersion feel or character of an action packed game along with the flaky AI which then makes the game look and feel rather flat for the most part.

Take the below for example, NCPD are brutal, MaxTac will kill you within seconds of touching down on the ground...

12 mins of NCPD (inc MaxTac towards the end) gun action via motorbike with power slide shooting at police blockade (timestamp 4:30~) - And all in glorious HDR :D

You can see some of the glitches here that Steve at Gamers Nexus highlighted in his video yesterday, glass highlight flickering and some instances of 1st person POV getting back into the vehicle being blocked by a texture for a couple of seconds.

I have noticed that with HDR enabled (same as before the update) that there is a small introduction to mouse input latency when moving the camera around. I'm on a 1000Hz mouse and playing at 144Hz on an OLED with 100+fps so any small intro of latency is noticeable to me. This does not happen playing with HDR off. I guess the game having to output in HDR with all of that visual stuff going on is bound to intro some latency into the output. I play with HDR off usually anyway so no big issue, still looks great on OLED.

Overall though the glitches are made up for by the intensity and fun when your wanted level goes above 3 stars lol.

Lastly, this was pretty cool news:

When I say bias, I am saying you like the game therefor less likely see issues or let them bother you, therefor you end up being a lot more positive about the game.

Then you have others in the total opposite camp. They already went in with the bias and no doubt found issues and now the game is junk to them.

I do think this happens. Obviously not on a conscious level ;)

This time I stayed on foot and walked about at random to see how immersive it was. Heard some shooting and watched as a cop and two bad guys had a shootout. The AI was atrocious and they just kept standing then crouching repeatedly behind their cars taking the odd shot.

I'm not being down on the game. I actually like running around and getting involved in gunfights, it's super fun in that regard. I can get over the police mechanics and crowds of walking mannequins by just avoiding them, however I do get a bit depressed wandering round that beautifully realised world, knowing it's really only skin-deep. If they'd procedurally generated some buildings that you can enter, with some random loot strewn around, it would somehow feel more alive. Also when I originally played it the crafting was so broken I quickly ended up with silly weapons, which broke any sense of progression, so I pretty much stopped playing.

Now it runs (suprisingly) well on my older GPU, I'll start the story again and give it another crack. I know there's a great story in there, so the onus is on me to go and discover it again.

Phantom Liberty is what has the dynamic events and stuff, the airdropped loot that factions/gangs rush to get so you gotta beat them to those and stuff. Few more days for that

This game absolutely trounces starfield, people think ai is bad in this, well starfield on another level  Amount of times, npcs completely bug out and take forever to actually do anything is annoying now.

Thing I love most about playing this now is how there is little to no loading scenes. Starfield might as well be called loading screen sim, even with a nvme, it is frustrating and breaks immersion.

Don't get me wrong, starfield great game but cp is just simply better.

Early thoughts in no particular order:

I've played for a few hours now starting with a new game. Gameplay wise it feels easier than before, even on very hard enemies are very susceptible to being hacked to death. Though getting shot is way worse for my netrunner build. I can easily lose a huge amount of health with one hit. Realistic so no complaints, its just something I'll have to adjust to and which makes the scarcity of meds really impactful. Cant craft my own yet (if that's even possible in game now, still low level and limited to Watson).

Money doesnt seem to be an issue. So I'm disassembling looted guns for crafting mats

Driving is better but still not great on a K & M setup. Vehicle sounds are way better. Bikes might need tweaking they don't like turning or stopping :)

A number of the changes are very obviously influenced from popular mods. eg drawing a gun by holding down the B key (keyboard) uses the first time equipped animation.

One issue I've got is that the game feels sluggish. FPS (50 -70 normal for me) and frametimes (12 - 20ms) numbers are fine yet it just feels slow to react. FG is not enabled so that's not an issue.

Graphical glitches with RT are there but not common but when they do pop up they can be very obvious like flickering objects, very bright lights which shouldn't be there. The subtle ones I don't notice most of the time unless I'm looking for them.

I bought C2077 a few months ago and really loved it especially with a lot of mods installed. QoL, graphic upgrades and some to make the game harder like Enemies of Night City. 2.0 is good but maybe not as good as the early reviews made out. Hopefully we will get some patches to address the more obvious issues like the police response being way overtuned and spawning on top of you.

Re the driving, and this is something I will never shut up about, keyboard/digital is rubbish for anything where analogue is better, this is why I switched to controller for the horse section on RDR and sometimes just for moving around. It's not 1980, I don't need to *be limited to full speed or nothing. This is not a CP issue IMO.

As someone who got bored of the walls of text and cutscenes in starfield will i suffer the same fate with cyberpunk?

Cp will be a breath of fresh air here. The cutscenes are far more coherent and feel/look more life like and thankfully less waffling options too.

Yeah you're not the first to tell me that. I am going to have to get a controller for the vehicle parts of the game. So any recommendations for what to buy?
