*** Cyberpunk 2077 ***

Patched and fired it up for the first time in ages. 1440p ultrawide on a 2080 Super seems to work fine with DLSS and RT Ultra, which seems surprising. Plenty responsive enough and the game looks great to me. Can't remember how to get FPS in GOG games though....

Fired my gun by accident, a cop rode in on a motorbike at 100mph directly into a wall, the cop glitched off backwards and ran in the wrong direction. I then stood in plain sight behind a lamppost while the cops forgot about me. It still ain't exactly GTAV :D

Walked around for a bit, remembered that you can't enter any buildings. Hmm.

I'll give it another chance soon, see if the story attracts again.

This echo’s my experience. Downloaded the patch and updated the drivers for my 4080. Loaded the game from an early game save and walked around a bit marvelling at the graphics with full RT at 4K. Definitely looks amazing with all effects on. Then I remembered mrk posting they had massively improved the driving, even though this was not mentioned in any patch notes. So I called my car and instantly lol’d at how anyone thinks there has been any improvement as it was still appalling. I crashed into a lamppost which fell on some people, a cop magically appeared right in front of me and started shooting and throwing grenades and I shot her in the face. Then a cop car magically appeared out of nowhere and I reloaded the save.

This time I stayed on foot and walked about at random to see how immersive it was. Heard some shooting and watched as a cop and two bad guys had a shootout. The AI was atrocious and they just kept standing then crouching repeatedly behind their cars taking the odd shot. This went on for ten minutes and I was getting bored. There was also another cop who just sat in the cop car the whole time. Eventually I shot the bad guys to put myself out of this misery and the lazy cop finally got out of the car. I shot the cop car countless times and they ignored me completely before I finally headshot one of them. Instantly some other cops magicked in behind me in the usual CP 2077 fashion.

I quit to desktop and double checked it was indeed updated and it was. So much for improved cop AI.

Gotta say the police cars look really mean in this, it's like the cop cars from Robocop dialled up to 11:

Also, anyone notice that windows/doors open on your cars when you pull out your gun? They close again when holstered :D

And the overall fidelity and how "clean" everything looks now, ok there are flaws if you look closely, but the overall look and feel is just so much better than before thanks to the better RT:

Yeah noticed that too, i did some walking around just to compare my last playthrough and it is pretty night and day, quite tempted to shelve Hogwarts again to play this  damn it!

I do wish the writing and dialog was better in this, obviously that was never going to change in the 2.0, but its still very painful at times , like near the start when you are talking to the ripperdoc and if you pick the dialog option mentioning Dexter whatshisname before the other dialog option, he then talks with you about Dexter. Then you pick the other option and it mentions doing a job for Dexter and the ripperdoc says something along the lines of "oh, Dexter eh, got to be careful there blah blah" and I'm sat there thinking, yes..Dexter, you know? The guy we were literally just talking about for the last 5 mins, where I said he had some work for me and now you are acting like its the first time the name Dexter has ever been said

Wish the npc dialog was more dynamic and reactive and knew what you had just been talking about

I'm surprised people are still playing Hogwarts tbh :p

Why wouldn't they? Harry Potter is a cultural phenomenon even now like Star Wars. The books and films are still massively popular and many people have been waiting years for a Harry Potter game. Even an attempt at the internet cancelling the game and poor performance on PC and consoles didn't stop people. Next time you will be asking why people are still playing GTA! :p

I thought they improved that for the DLC? Shame if that hasn't happened.

Oh I like Harry Potter, I know full well what it is lol and bought the game. It;s the PC game itself that was a poor example of how not to optimise a PC title that to this day still has many technical issues. It's why I abandoned it. There's only so much vagou and tedious voice acting clearly aimed at kids/script that one person can handle.

People kept playing WoW for years and that ran horribly until it was moved over to DX12. At one point a dev said anything above a GTX1060 would be CPU limited!

Does anyone have a guide on how to get Youtube to recognise HDR content? Recorded this in HDR, rendered it in Davinci Resolve in HDR, video looked ace, but then Youtube had other ideas. Video looks all washed out now and pants. Is it worth just recording in SDR still?

Game looks really good in HDR with path tracing. I didnt think HDR worked well in cyberpunk previously, so i dont know if they've done something to improve that too? Long time since I tried HDR in the game to be fair, so maybe there were improvements in some of the earlier patches.

Loading in to a game and the biggest issue for me was working out the overhauled cyberdoc/cyberware system.

Clothes are entirely cosmetic now, all your armour/stat increases come from the implants.

Weird how it goes. On one hand you got some people saying the improvements are huge and it’s the best thing since sliced bread, then you got the post above saying the AI is crap.

Has got to be biases surely. I get the feeling the truth once again lies somewhere in between.
