Cyberpunk 2077

Put a few hours into this at this weekend, had my 1st crash. After a certain person wake, off I went in my car and whoosh . Seemed to load back up ok, game itself so far seems ok.

Finished this now. Few annoying crashes but overall not anything major. Crashed maybe 4-5 times in around 60hrs of gameplay.

Quite enjoyed it. Saved at point of no return to run through different endings.

Can’t say as I thought it was ground breaking or anything but I did have fun with it. Certainly worth the wait for a more finished article and given I only paid something like £20 for it, I feel it was well worth it.

There’s a lot of cool detail in the world and sometimes I would just wander around, taking it all in.

In terms of gameplay I felt it was a bit too grindy in some ways. Buying better gear and cybernetics as an example - decent guns costing 40+k eddies, but when you pick them up they are only worth a couple of grand. I went through the entire game with the same cyberdedeck I started with and I finished with tons of unused upgrade points for character attributes and perks. Like tons……

I mainly played assault style and never bothered with the faff of hacking really.

It’s good that the game caters for different play styles and builds but I did feel the cybernetics were under utilised and actually the cost of significant upgrades made them unobtainable without some serious grind, which I couldn’t be bothered with. I guess this made the game harder because I was probably under levelled in many encounters but I managed to get through them.

I’m glad that I played through this and experienced Night City, but I doubt I will be going back to it. Just didn’t seem to click with me in a way I wanted it to. Not sure why but I just couldn’t motivate myself to carry on with the grind, but maybe that’s my issue and not the game.

Solid 8/10 for me.

As above, a 7 for me. There were a lot of distracting bugs, items randomly floating in the air etc. A few crashes to the dashboard. Finished the main story and considered going for the plat but I am not grinding out the 1.7m needed to buy all the cars.

I found that there was too much useless stuff to buy for upgrading cybernetics, some areas needed a lot more simplicity.

I picked up some random legendary gear during gameplay that was way better than anything I crafted. That's one gameplay mechanic that needs to go away from gaming, making stuff out of junk. The cybernetics and skill tree were crap tbh, Far Cry did this better in what, 2012?

I'm looking at finally starting this (again, seeing as I bought it at release then returned it with many, many other people) but I'm quite surprised by the lack of updates ever since they released the free current-gen upgrade. I certainly get the impression that resources are being wound-down on it, unless they're focused entirely on the DLC.

Mostly likely, I think they have some DLC planned though. I guess they have put a lot of their focus on Witcher 4 now.

CP2077 is good in its current state, found no bugs that took away my enjoyment when I started it and finished it after the current gen update dropped. It was a game that never lived up to the expectations and hype it got and never will do, not to say it isn't a decent game now , it is very good personally, just it could have been even better.

Where's the cheapest place to buy this online? Quite fancy trying it.

Also, I see that confusingly (to me at least) some online key places have it advertised for 'Xbox One' and some for 'Xbox X/S'. Are there two different versions available, as I understand there was a version released optimised for the X/S or was that optimisation added to the game via an update patch at some point?

Basically what I'm asking is, does it matter what one listed I purchase?

Thanks.

Went ahead and purchased it. Edition I bought said Xbox Series X/S and having googled it, it would appear that the downloads available now are the updated/optimised versions anyway.

Played maybe 30 mins so far and I'm enjoying it, opted for the 'corporate' back story and to begin with it had Deus Ex Machina vibes about it.

Question though - I rarely play console and usually game on an HP Omen with keyboard and mouse, but fancied seeing how this looked on my new LED TV. But I'm struggling to cope with the aiming of the crosshairs, usually I go too far past the target then overcompensate trying to line it up.

Is there a way to address this in the settings perhaps slowing it down a bit? Or is it just a case of getting used to it?

Ta.

Should be plenty of options to get that sorted in the controller settings, the bigger problem is knowing which bits to tweak so here's a guide: https://exputer.com/guides/cyberpunk-2077-controller-settings/

Thanks, gord. That looks ideal, will give that a go.
Great info from gord, I'd just add that there are smart weapons which have homing bullets which may also help when dealing with ranged enemies.

The shotguns are great fun, you can just run up to folks and not need to worry about aiming :) I focused on blades and using a katana mostly as I saw some great builds online with OP swords and slashing away point blank was pretty simple.

I'm quite far into my playthrough, almost 40 hours now, but this is from launch and I've had multiple breaks. I've only recently focused on mantis blades which are crazy fun and I've just switched to gorilla arms which again are pretty nuts, again aiming not much of a requirement.
