Cycling Holidays

Do you think it's worth getting insurance for Mallorca? I'm not ot worried about theft, more airport damage/loss. Bikes worth about 6k.

Bikmo :)

Silly not to as if you had a car of that value you'd want it insured too no? And also some personal injury is good to have plus if you've not go any other liability cover it's a bit silly not to.

I've got £6k cover with £4.5k away from home, includes £600 for my box, £5-600 of accesories, race day cover, liability insurance, worldwide insurance etc for about £36pm.

Thats a pretty good deal. Im not that bothered about here but just for the holiday really. My main worry is about it getting lost on the plane and sent to a different country etc. If i break it over there, im going to the Pinarello shop:D

Looking at possibly going away, thinking perhaps Gran Canaria last week in October/Early Nov. Just wherever has flights that are cheap and direct and with good roads! :D

Currently finishing my visit to San Francisco and about to fly down to San Diego to start a week of cycling. Got a few trips planned out any tips for a week of back to back riding days ? Go shortish for the first then a long one followed by a day off? Then repeat the above ?

Routes I have roughly got planned

Personally I wouldn't have a day off from riding but just a day or two where it's much more relaxed and you can just spin everything out if you feel you need it. Keeping your HR & Power under a set zone.

Depending on what sort (speed, length & profile) of riding you're used to I'd try to keep them fairly similar. It'll take a couple of days for the volume to catch up with you and accumulated fatigue to start to cripple your form but not setting off too hard would be wise so that you're bent out of shape at the end, not the middle of your holiday ;)

Had a week in Germany and the only day we didn't ride was the last day. We did have a day in Munich but we were on hire bikes cycling round the city. Much slower and lower distance but cycling nevertheless.

Does anyone have recomendations for holidays in the French Alps?

Crossed Sa Calobra & Puig Major off the bucket list this month and think returning to Majorca again next year might be a bit too soon.

Ventoux & Alp D'huez have been on my radar a while but aren't close to each other. I'm feeling Ventoux and there looks to be some other reasonable riding in the vicinity too.

More than happy to get a transfer to Bedoin for the day if there's somewhere generally better situated and cycle friendly? :)

Ventoux is an on its own trip by all accounts. If you want to stay in the alps Bourg D'Oisans is the place I always see recommended as it has all the famous climbs right on its doorstep. I'd definitely favour the Alps over Ventoux.

Ta for the suggestions, looked to be plenty of other climbs close to Ventoux but it seems to be a bit of a PITA to get to :o

Will do some digging about Bourg D'Oisans

I just got back, not a cycling holiday per se, but hired a bike from Freemotion and got 3 good rides in, I stopped in Maspalomas.

Pico de las Nieves: https://www.strava.com/activities/764814701

Serenity: https://www.strava.com/activities/762704246

The Serenity route is just beautiful and I enjoyed it far more than the peak (I'm not particularly a fan of big climbs) although the descent I chose down towards Barranquillo Andres was rough (I chose to ignore the `End of cyclist route` sign at the top, obviously), very glad I chose a bike with hydro disc brakes.

Really enjoyed it, some real breathtaking views. Tenerife in May, so I better try & learn to love climbing a bit more.
