Now, whilst it's not good that the PC didn't know the law, it really annoys me when cyclists break all the road laws, and think they can get away with it.
I have had to break hard to avoid hitting cyclists who break red lights on a number of occasions.
I am pretty sure that it is illegal to jump a red light too. It's certainly against the highway code - http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/TravelAndTransport/Highwaycode/DG_069837
In Ireland, someone got a driving ban for a cycling offence (but I doubt the law is the same in the UK/England) - http://www.independent.ie/national-...iving-ban-for-breaking-red-light-2228117.html
