Cyclists!!!!!

Having tried to ride a bicycle on modern roads, I cannot understand why cyclists would not have wing mirrors fitted, even the little bar end type... unless they think moving out without looking or indicating is some weird magic ritual that renders them immortal... like BMW drivers?

My biggest issue with cyclists, which I encounter a LOT, is when they run red lights into obvious oncoming traffic. Most I have seen come a-cropper claimed it was the oncoming vehicle's fault and started screaming around for witnesses...

Beyond that, they're about as much of a hazard on the roads as every other type of bad road user, really...

All that bothers me is the idiots who ride on the road when there's a cycle path on the side of the road. I see it every single day on the same stretch of narrow country road and it bothers me no end. The cycle path is lovely and smooth as well so there's no reason not to use it IMO.

Nothing wrong with some cyclists, if I want to over take you on the inside when your turning left and have indicated with plenty of notice I don't care your fault, red lights? They are for cars. Every body else is responsible for my safety not myself I'll ride as recklessly as I can.

pedestrians! you wouldn't believe how many times I attempted to ride on those "cycle" paths.. :) pedestrians just walk into them, drivers open doors etc etc.. its less safe to be on them that it is to be on the actual road!

I saw a very similar sitation on Tuesday, disused railway turned into cycle path which runs within metres of the road for a good 20 miles. Cyclist was on the road and got overtaken (safely i thought as i was only about 3 cars behind) and he starts waving his arms around flicking the vees at the lorry... People like that will end up with a punch in the face at some point

Totally agree. On my old route to work on a fast stretch of A road, there is a nice cycle path behind a crash barrier however lots always chose to use the road.

I don't mind cyclists however when they jump lights in front of me, it really gets my back up. They should make some kind of CBT to be able to ride on the roads (I know most cyclists have driving licenses also, but you should know the rules of the road on a bike).

I know there are more drivers on the road than cyclists but I must see 10's of drivers jumping traffic lights every day. In fact I bet most of us are guilty of the amber gamble.

In fact its something I never do as a cyclist....Hey another me might be coming the other way but in a car

!!!!!!!!

On a stretch of country road I go down often, there is a beautiful stretch of tarmac cycleway for miles, dedicated to people who enjoy lycra. Yet I continually see cyclists holding up traffic on a busy A road with lots of HGV's.

The mind baffles.....

Agree and even though the cycle path is a bit rough in places and about 1.25 miles long I've never seen anybody else on it except me. I also still manage to undertake every cyclist on the path while they are tootling along on the road holding traffic up.

There is a difference between the "amber gamble" and stopping at a red light before starting off again just because there is no traffic from the other roads.

I don't have anything personally against cyclists but some do put themselves at terrible risk.

The red light jumping should really be addressed it is getting ridiculous now. My bug bear is when they ride two abreast on the single track roads in my area which is very rural. You literally come round a blind bend to find them in the middle of the road.

On certain roads it is well known that we hoot the horn or flash our lights when going round them. Obviously they can't do that but cycling two abreast is crazy.

They also allow streams of traffic to build up behind them and seem oblivious to it and continue on two abreast. When faced with an oncoming car they force them to give way.

Just little things really but I am always very aware as I would not want the injury or death of one on my conscious. Just wish they would accept how vulnerable they are and be a little bit more conscious of this.

In north Wales we spend tens of millions developing some of the best cycle routes in Europe (some of which are more direct than the roads). Yet some morons still insist on riding in the road despite the being a better surfaced cycle track feet away because it's "their right", some people just can't be helped. At least the majority of cyclists are more competent (putting yourself and others at risk just because of your ego isn't big or clever).

We don't really have red light jumping round here as like I said the majority do use the cycle tracks it's just the militant types that don't and they use the pavement to bypass traffic lights >.>

The biggest problem with cyclists in this country IMO are blinking LED lights, why these have not been banned I have no idea.
