Dacia appreciation Thread

Acme giving car advice :D


150 is about the ball park for any bogo service, even electrics will need a annual check to get the pennies out of you!

I have a stepway for near 3 years. Other than a minor warranty issue with some paint its been flawless.

The ultimate in white goods cars tbh.
 
Twice I've considered going for a dacia when looking at new cars. Twice I've decided it's not really worth it for me. Worse warranties than the likes of Kia/Hyundai and it just feels a little cheap/plastic to me.

Also the fact that I once went into a showroom, asked to speak to someone and had to wait 20 minutes for the seemingly not busy person to come and speak to me.

I think the Renault garages don't like selling them.... They make hardly any thing off them I think.

Hey, even I wouldn't buy a brand new Dacia with optional chrome pack. :p

I've come a long way... I like to think I actually have a reasonable amount of car buying sense as a result of my past mistakes. :)

That's a bit harsh :p it's far from the most attractive car on the road, but it's also far from the ugliest, and IMO far better looking than some of the other generic compact-hybrid-SUV-crossover-city-4x4...things...
 
Don't understand them myself, I feel like they are bought for the number on the registration plate and the fact that it's new.

They feel cheaper inside than a 1995 Ford Escort.

I'd take the Octavia... Would you prefer people you know to see you in a Dacia or a second hand Skoda?

What do you think when people see you driving that, if you think 'what a plank' every time you see anyone driving any car from an entire marque?

Dacia fills a place in the market. It's not a place either you or I would ever want to be, but it's a place all the same and for what they offer they offer it reasonably well. That doesn't make people planks for buying them, it makes them people with priorities which differ to you and I.
 
Noise is sorted. £60 in parts fitted myself in an afternoon. Now it just needs a wheel bearing and it will be peachy again. :)

Sorry, I seem to have developed an irrational hatred for them... It just annoys me that someone would spend good money on something like a Dacia when they could get something much much better, second hand.

They might make sense as an ultra ultra cheap lease, but thats about it.
 
Someone from work gave me a lift to the station in a 15 plate Duster, it was like being in a van.
 
Come on, they cost about 3p what do you all expect?

Regardless of what you can buy a few years old for the same price as a new one, there are people out there that just want a new car, and just want "a car"

For them I get it, everyone else just buys something better!
 
I get why cheap brands exists, but not for the UK market. Emerging markets where used cars are very expensive, brands like Dacia make sense, but in the UK where great used cars can be had for sensible money, cars like the Dacia et al just dont make sense for me.

10k purchase price (or 199 a month or whatever) to save on a few potential repair bills and having to drive around in a horrible car, it just doesnt compute, a neighbour has a duster, my old mans 10 year old Rav 4 is still the nicer car, my neighbours argument is that the road tax is £30 a year vs £280, which is fair enough, but 10k cost vs 2k cost has to be factored in aswell.

A 10 or even 5 year old jap car will be reliable, and much nicer for the cost concious amongst us!!
