Dark Matter 2024 (Apple TV+)

I'm going against the grain here but I liked the unravelling of the mystery and character building in episodes 1&2, for me it then got progressively worse. The stupid decisions from the characters which clearly puts them danger in later episodes I found annoying and stinks of poor storytelling. But at least we can be safe in the knowledge, no matter where they end up, they'll be using apple products.

Really have mixed feelings about this show - just watching episode 6, at times it is so good, but other times such a drag.

Yeah have to say for a couple of allegedly smart people they are clueless dimwits.

Definitely something which makes it off-putting a times when these people who are supposed to be so smart act so mind numbingly clueless. Some of that is context though as in how things appear from that character's position but it still doesn't come off well to the viewer.

If you've ever read "Earth side" by Dennis E Taylor then you realise how stupid these characters are. In that books (and the previous one) you have smart people making smart, well-reasoned and pre-planned decisions, in a similar situation. Not so much in Dark Matter.

It just continues to make less sense the more the show progresses. I hope the payoff here is more than smarty boy just wanting a reality where he's married. If that's truly it, how utterly preposterous.

Still finding it horribly mixed with some good stuff and some stuff I just struggle with either because it is boring or dumb. It feels more and more like what should have been a rough draft for a great show.

Was intrigued by the latest episode and decided to listen to the audiobook on Spotify. Things are going to get very weird in the next two episodes.

I confess I'm a little lost on it all now.
In a reality where the multiverse exists, it makes perfect sense every minute detail change can conjure another multiverse and so on but watching yesterdays episode suggested by using the box device, this created exact copies of the same protagonist who was kidnapped in Ep1, which would explain why there are now multiple protagonists who have re-entered the same universe. It's all getting a bit silly; I would have stuck with Amanda in the "utopian" world!

If there was that many Jason converging into that reality. You would have thought they would see or meet each other in the infinity corridor?

I given up trying to make sense of it after episode 7 and especially knowing how the book ends, I think the writer wrote himself into a bit of a hole by introducing that plot twist.
He created the possibilities of multiple Jason1s but where's all the alternative Jason2?
