Dark Messiah

Hmm, didn't get a great review on Gamespot (6.7/10).

http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/darkmessiahofmightmagic/review.html?sid=6160563

Still, I left it downloading over night and will make up my own mind when I get to play it once I'm in from work. Looking on the steam forums there seems to be plenty of people with performance issues much like when HL2 was released, many complaining of really bad stuttering :(

I read that one too, but how can he give the graphics 7 out of ten? Everyone who has played the demo knows they are better than that. Reviewer stikes me as someone who just didn't like the game.

Not seen any other reviews below 80% and some in the 90s.

7 out of 10 for graphics  What was that guy playing it on,must have been old tech gfx card he was using :p

It got 88% in PC format, they review was pretty good

Has anyone played the full version yet? Need to know what they think of it.

Yep, played it for a good few hours yesterday. It's very enjoyable, the fighting is a brutal as the demo, though the game starts to get much harder fairly early on. Plot-wise I can't say I really care too much, seems to hold together fairly well I guess, but I do love the cheesey OTT voice acting.
The levels I've plyed so far are all very pretty, nicely varied and original. The really exciting (albeit very linear) rooftop chace being my favourite so far.

Only real niggles I've had with it so far have been 1 crash to desktop after loading a new chapter, (no idea why it did it, and hasnt done so again since) and the loading times which are ever-so slightly too long to be ignored. Oh, and the multiplayer, which I dipped into VERY briefly, sucks big time, which is a shame but not personally why I picked up the game.

Bought it last nite although its only at 50% download wise.

Yeah mine turned up yesterday and i played it for about 3 hours last night. I'm really enjoying it, the rooftop chase was very good.

I think the graphics are really good to be honest and i've had no problems with stuttering to mention. But then i am running this on a [email protected] with a 7950GX2 :D

Jut picked my copy up from the local independent games shop (£25 :)), but I'll be going out on the drink straight from work, so it will be tomorrow morning before I can get some slashing done :D

Can't wait to lop someone's 'ead orf

I'm going to cry now because the game and my main pc are at my student digs at uni while I'm stuck at home with Impetigo :( Will have to wait until monday before I can play it.

:(

I do not normally buy games before checking reviews and after reading Gamespots I am regretting pre-ordering it - it will probably waiting for me at home.

I shouldn't worry too much about that gamespot review. I think that guy was playing a different game tbh. Just from my experience of the Demo I disagreed with half of what he said. E.g. "not much character building and progression" thats half the game you idiot  maybe if you missed the whole concept of spending experience points on the skills you want to upgrade you could be let off for such an odd comment. Like I said ignore Gamespot, look forward to it waiting for you when you get home and enjoy it :D

Had a crack on it this morning after unlocking it.
Quite impressed with the combat. Creates some good, thought provoking & drawn out fights. Some novel special moves as well. Along with quite a few different ways of approaching fight situations.
Graphics are quite impressive.
I like the fact that (like Thief) you can see your characters body when you look down.
The control of your character does not feel very immediate though.

I also have had some issues of bad stuttering when loading a new section, & I'm running a dual core Opteron at just under 3ghz with a 7900GTX overclocked, so hardly a low-spec system.
I also think that the loading times are too long. Oblivion seems to load much more quickly.

if i get the boxed version, will that put it in steam games? i was quite annoyed when darwinia and uplink came out on steam and i couldn't use them through it :(

I have HL2 installed, I installed Dark Messiah from the DVD and it installs like a "normal" game, I also just checked steam and Dark Messiah is NOT in the list. :)

*SPOILER BELOW*

Please skip my post to ignore the little spoiler..............

Well not much of a spoiler in revealing levels or enemies but it is a nice toutch in the game and some may want to find it for themselves?
Anyway and just wondered if anyone else has made there own weapon (Long sword) yet?
I thought it was a great little thing to find without being shown the way, as I was wondering what the Hammer was for. :D

hmm, bummer, i really like the steam way of presenting my games in a centralised manner, although i wish some sort of grouping was avaliable like in pStart. i take it you restarted your PC or steam after the install?

Was gonna buy it then I found out you need Steam to run it. One less game to buy.

I have Exited from Steam and tried to run DM and it runs fine.
I dont know if this is the same as not having Steam installed in the first place though.
