Dark Messiah

I found that after halfway through the game I had a 50-50 chance of it crashing on every level load. :(

Gotta ask, how did you beat the cyclops in the spider temple?
I fired a few arrows to get him underneath me, then jumped on his back and went all out with the lightening daggers :D

Lure him over to the statue being held up by wooden supports.
Take out the supports as he gets in line, they should crash on-top of him and he will then drop to his knees.
Then just introduce your sword to his eye, and bobs your Auntie. :D

Luckily I have had an almost flawless experience with this.

Apart from a couple of flashing shadows the only thing that bugs me is the character movement in the way that it jumps and climbs  but most of all how you get stuck behind a small stone less than a foot high.

I have the same problem  i guess we've got to wait for a patch.

ATTENTION!!!! HERE IS A FIX FOR MANY DARK MESSIAH PROBLEMS!!

Simply set the texture level to medium if you have it on high and many problems (including long loading times) will be instantly fixed! It worked for me, and now I am enjoying the game properly!

Played this at a mates house last night and really enjoyed it. Thought the demo was pretty good, but never made my mind up about getting it. After playing last night i think i will be now.

WTF? you must have been on this since the minute it was released yes?
Unless it is not very long.

Anyway congrats on the completion.

The only "bugs" I can recall is on the docks where the big ship was, one of the big crates had a flashing shadow, and some of the spiders webs has a part of it that flashes also.
definetely not hurting my experience of the game, especially with all details at highest too.

Ye more or less from release, with a few breaks. Completed it twice now :p You'll know why 2 completions once you've completed the game yourself :) There's more variations on the story, but they're not major.

I really like this game, wasn't expecting to find it much fun tbh; definitely a sleeper-hit for me. Its a shame so many people are having trouble, since the game underneath is very special. Unlike most games, the levels at the end weren't rushed, and the story wasn't cut short. Lots of replayability, much more than you would expect.

LEUVEN: That didn't work for me, the Cyclops just pushed the statue away and went after me. There is another way to kill any cyclops though:

**** SPOILER ****

Fire arrows at the Cyclops' eye until you get adrenaline. Make sure the next arrow hits the eye otherwise you'll have to get adrenaline again. Once the adrenaline arrow hits, the Cyclops will go down. Now stab him in the eye :p Works with any Cyclops anywhere in the game.

**** SPOILER ****

Ive had NO problems with crashing and im now on chapter 8 , it runs well... no problems , and this is a far better game than bugothic 3!. For me atleast :D

I just got this game, and I must be doing something wrong because it seems way too difficult to me. I tried it on hard first, but I was just getting killed every five minutes so I tried it on normal and it's not much better.

Feel free to call me a n00b or whatever, I think I really need some pointers here. I have tried using the environment to my advantage etc. since it's certain death for me if I don't, but even if I use the environment against more than one or two opponents I always end up with about 2hp after the fight and it seems health is few and far between.

Any ideas, or am I just hopeless?

Try holding your shield in block position, strafe around the enemy so that when he lunges at you, you're already moving to the side and can get a free shot at his back...release the block button before you strike or you'll shield slap and that's not the same......or upgrademelee and get flurry of blows...or charge - I like charging :)

If you just run in clicking your attack button wildly you will di e in many horrible, horrible ways (not that I'm suggesting you are, of course :)).

N00b! :D

The enemy will generally lunge at you, so as long as you keep strafing you won't be hit anywhere near as much. It gets easier later on imo, when you start getting useful skills - as well as a ring that slowly regens your health. I found the combat too hard initially in the demo, so I went for a stealthy character and backstabbed everyone :p Be warned that if you go the stealth route, you will get to a series of maps where you can't use stealth at one point. Its short lived though, and you'll be back to stealth before you know it.

Hehe, I've mostly been parrying so that I could get in a position to kick the enemy onto a trap. I've found that if I try to have an even weapons vs. weapons fight without using the environment I end up dead. :(

LOL! :D I haven't been doing that, but that's a hilarious mental picture.

Bah. See, I actually found combat easier in the demo, so I have absolutely no idea of what I could be doing wrong.

I want to go the stealth route myself, with daggers and bow as my main weapons, but if I am getting my arse kicked this much using a shortsword and shield then I think I would get annihilated with daggers.

By the way; Is it me, or is the bow really underpowered? I know I'm still on chapter one, but it seems to do no damage. :(

Aim for the head ;) chapter 3 has a long bow with a bit more punch to it :)

I'll keep that in mind, lol.

I got tired of trying so I started shooting them in the legs, gave me a nice head start. :p

Can't wait to see this longbow. :)

I am getting crashes now all the time. Just crashed three times on one bit everytime I reload. It is the bit near the beginning of the game and you climb out onto what looks lile battlements.

well it crashes to desktop and I get this message in a window.

'Internal driver error in IDirect3DDevice9::Present()'

this is in addition to the early memory problems I have had (turning off 7.1 surround and going for stereo helped that).

Anyone else had this problem?

I'm not the greatest with a sword, so I went down the ol' backstab route.

I had a great row of kills, backstabbed a goblin and threw his body infront of a spiked wall, went back into hiding and waited to see if any of the patrols would take an interest. Sure enough, 2 goblins can along to inspect the corpse, standing right infront of the spiked wall...you can guess what happened next :D

LMFAO! :D I'm getting the hang of it now, strafing around while building up power attacks and healing myself with magic. Getting pretty efficient at taking down multiple opponents with daggers.

But the thing I am happiest about; Gotten used to the bow. I took down three blokes running at me with headshots, lol.
