Dark Messiah

Just had a wierd problem, went to play and the game crashed during load up.

Went back to steam and the games started downloading itself again, despite the folder still being 1gb+

I have just installed this from the dvd but have not intergrated it into my steam account yet, seeing all the problems you guys have been having with it.
Can someone tell me if you do run the game via steam, do you still need the disc in?

Nice Game

Despite all the poorish reviews this game got i actually thought it was very good. Got it on friday and couldnt stop going back to my pc to play a few more levels :D ...completed sunday

Thought the gfx where great too!

Shame about the multiplayer mode though....very weak.

PC Gamer said it was a must have.

Good enough for me really.

I'm up to chapter 5 so far, bought it last night and finsihed playing around 1am, quite impressed so far, although it does seem very short. How many chapters are there?

cant remember how many chapters... but it was a little short.

Thought the ending was poop though. Killing the last boss with only a sword took ages.

i'm stuck in a stupid place...jus outside the spider temple, i've just got the rope bow and need to open the portcullis, i can't. i've tried shooting the lever bit, can't figure it out though

any help?

there is a chain on the wall in the room you climb out of. (I think there is also the corpse of the orc in that room as well), the one with the hole in the roof anyway....

I'm really enjoying this although I've not had time to get very far. My only niggle is that no matter how quietly I try to walk or how careful I am keeping to the dark, I always get seen. Makes stealth like in the Thief series very difficult!

I agree, I gave up increasing my stealth skills when they just didn't seem to do anything.

My other gripe would be the range of weapons, I play and feel that I am a healthy distance away from an orc and yet he manages to do me some damage. However it works both ways and means that you don't have to get as close when you want to kick them off the edge os a cliff!

when you have full stealth and a cloak you can literally be standing in the middle of a dim-ish room and no-one will be able to see you. I really like the stealth kills when they go well and the ability to throw daggers is immensely satisfying.

I completed the game on Sunday, I found the stealth route quite satisfying, of course there were a couple of parts which weren't stealthable, damn undead.

I've just realised that I didn't have any of the stealth upgrades when I posted that (I hadn't got to the rooftop chase by that point just to highlight how little of the game I've had a chance to play :p)

I just assumed that I would have 'Master Thief' skills of stealth from the outset!

Really enjoying it now, just got to the start of Chapter 4. I did think it was a bit too easy stealing the crystal from the chamber of imprisoned villagers though.

So far due to the Rope bug thing, i've swung myself outside the level 3 times now. Got trapped down sides of stuff about 3 or 4 times and had 6 crashes.

I swear games loaded faster of a C64 tape drive than they do with DM. Still its not a bad game.

Patch is out on steam. the game is fully playable now. About time :p
I'm enjoying this. It ain't perfect, but its still a lot of fun, novel even - which is unusual these days.... Worth it imo.

Best single player game this year, its one of those games I hope will never end, or takes 80+ hours to complete. I'm at the part where you find 3 gems to put in the big spider to get the skull & I hope its miles from the finish!
Not a single crash here, using the steam version. Once cd key is registered I went to work & let steam download it, auto updates for the win! Dont have DVD installed at all. Runs on max settings, 4aa 16af 1280x1024 :)

Are there any other games like this?
I dont usually like this kinda game, only played the demo by chance & i'm loving the game now. I hate oblivion, but if there are other games like this then i've been missing out!

REALLY really enjoying this game at the moment it just get's better and better, i'm at the same point as no_1_dave bit tough but enjoyable non the less
blinking zombies and their poison breath doing my head in :(
hope i got a way to go getting right into this.
