Dark Messiah

Just finished and played all four different endings. Game was way too short, buggy and story (especially endings) were a big letdown. Overall, quite dissappointed really. Had high hopes for this one.

ATTENTION!!!! HERE IS A FIX FOR MANY DARK MESSIAH PROBLEMS!!

Simply set the texture level to medium if you have it on high and many problems (including long loading times) will be instantly fixed! It worked for me, and now I am enjoying the game properly!

I tried that and it worked :) I also turned down some other serttings just incase. It seems that running the game with max settings causes the problems. It doesnt look as good but at least it works.

Cheers.

Can't believe soe of you have finished the game twice already, but then I have a wife and 2 kids so my gaming time is severely limited!

I am on Chapter 4 and just enjoy standing at the top of a staircase and getting my kicks by kicking guards in the head as they run up the stairs! Class!

If I had a compaint it would be load times, not the longer load of the game, I can handle that, but the quick save/load is not so quick.

I've found the game really buggy and slow. I seem to spend 3/4's of my time on a loading screen.

Load crap at start- load menu - load game - Run along corridor - Load next bit of corridor - Speak to woman - Load next chapter.

I'm getting really crappy frame rates, this is the Source engine FFS even HL2 with my Ati 9800 Pro ran smoothly.

What the hell is going on?

Hom much Ram does everyone have? I've got 1 gig, do you reckon i need 2 to run this game smoothly.

I have 2 gig, no stuttering at all here.

4800X2, X1900XT and the 2 gig working in harmony - all settings on full at 1280x1024.

Aside from the load times I have had no issues at all.

Be warned that if you go the stealth route, you will get to a series of maps where you can't use stealth at one point. Its short lived though, and you'll be back to stealth before you know it.

Think I'm on that bit right now, damn undead have superman vision, I'm too poorly equiped to fight them, so I've employed the classic "run away" tactic.

Rig in my sig is running this game absolutely maxed in 1440x900 with 6xAA, 16xAF, HDR and I've not seen the FPS change at all with vsync on at 60hz. Get horrible tearing with vsync off but framerate is good, well up in the 70-80fps range.

Completed the game , it ran REALLY well... only crashed once this was with shadows turned down and HIGH detail with 8xAF.

The ending's are RUBBISH ( multiple endings ) , like 2min videos each i didn't feel like id done anything special

Did you enjoy it.

I have noticed from reading posts on this and other forums is that nvidia users appear to be having more problems.

been fine for me. crashed once but this was before I updated my drivers - (was getting some weird stuttering on the drivers that came with this card, and when I updated them the first time performance was even worse. Reinstalled again and everything is much smoother),

doesnt need steam to work if you run it from cd

you do mean dvd ?typo i guess, that's a good thing as i like to give my old games to my student relative - thanks for the info....i was getting cold feet about getting it if it needed steam to work.

Has anyone noticed the game likes to set it's gfx detail to medium, regardless of what you pick?

I've got everything set to high, but gfx detail keeps flicking back to medium??

I played for the first time last night for about 3 hours and I have not had any problems. It's running about the same as HL Episode 1 without any stuttering or bugs. 1600 x 1200 in game everything maxed x2AA x16AF. So far so good - I hope I do not have any problems further on. I am really enjoying it so far which is great because I was not hearing that much positive feedback on the forums.
