Dark Souls 3

Sasso you shouldnt even be thinking about countering at your level.
Block, Roll, Attack

Yeah I gather that now after I swung my shield and my reward was a sword to the face :p

Yeah the reason I chose the Knight was I've played melee in other rpg games so kinda know it a bit. And tanky starting stats :p going to stick with it and want to add fire to the build later...... Set some things ablaze to get the damage ball rolling :p

Just had a brilliant moment. I put my summon sign down to be summoned for the Pontiff Sulyvan fight and got summoned along with one other guy. Just as we were entering the boss area, a dark spirit invaded the host. We all just stood there completely still looking towards him, he turned towards each of us, did the collapse gesture, then left!:D

Got my longsword +4 fire, it's pretty epic. But remember some enemies have high resistance against fire. You do get a nice frost sword after you've done the 3rd area.Takes twinkling titanite to upgrade, can't buy early in game and rare drop.

might buy it, on a steam sale later down the years, simply have no desire to play it, plus don't think its my type of game, from what ive seen every boss you dodge their attack, roll out of the way, then slice at them once or twice then retreat, just seems boring to me

I am in two minds between both of these swords. I know I should use them for different mobs, but part of me feels like I need to give one all my attention. :)

i like the atmosphere and soundtrack but beyond that your description sums up the game.

I found the Mirrah set, and I think I might ditch the Undead Legion armour for it. You can get it really early game(though I didn't) and it has very good stats and looks pretty good.

This is not my experience with the game. Enemies often have combo attacks and simply dodging + hitting rarely works. I often dodge once or twice, wait for the final blow of the combo, block it (if it's blockable..) and then slice. Characters which don't use shields dodge much more but doing so blindly is a waste of time (and stamina) so the aim is to roll into an advantageous position, often behind the enemy, and then slice. Almost every enemy/boss has a different timing for efficient blocking/rolling so learning their moves set is mandatory. It is also mandatory to learn how your preferred weapon behaves as the ideal position for a straight sword is not the same as the one for a greataxe.

If you don't enjoy slowly learning these things and adapting to the mechanics the developer throws at us, the game is simply not for you.

I find this type of gameplay very enjoyable, I've done so for many years, probably since meeting the first fat guard in the old Price of Persia. :D

DS1 is like £5, why not try there, so you can then moan about it here an hour later?

I'd start with Knight, easiest class for boss. Stay as far away from the boss as possible and when he does his leap attack roll to the left, get a couple of hits in. Rince and repeat. You do not need to stick with a Knight build all game you can be whatever class you want. When the boss mutates, get close use shield, watch your stamina and get a hit in here and there. You'll do it.

My method as a thief was just to stand there and attempt to parry every swing. That boss is great for practicing parrying. After i parried him some and got him down to half way he went blob so i then went up close spammed and dodged. Took a ton of times. I couldnt live as a thief though my ninja skills arent good enough so changed to an alt knight character i had.

the Lothric Armour is pretty cool and better stats but i recently got the Mirrah and prefer the style (or maybe i was just bored of the lothric).

Atm I've got the Mirrah vest, Undead Legion helm(go great together), the painting guardian gloves and cleric trousers.

The entire painting guardian set actually looks quite good imo.

Edit- I'm sure I've seen a phantom wearing Lucatiel's mask. Haven't come across it yet though.

The tutorial boss can be beaten by sticking to his right/behind him for most of his attacks. Get as many attacks in whilst he is transforming then stay close to him again.

Getting the ice creature to follow you until it falls from the cliff was fun too.

Oooh I very nearly did the Dancer first time. One thing I've always hated about Souls games is the cheap AOE attacks!

PS. Storm Ruler needs nerfing badly!

PPS. God, is there a chest in this game that isn't a mimic?!

Sigh... The summoning problems in this game are a joke. Even when you can summon someone, which is hard enough to it is 50-50 as to whether they will be able to enter the fog door or not. 4 times in a row now I've summoned and they haven't been able to enter.
