Dark Souls 3

I'm completely new to dark soils series and I feel I'm doing something wrong. I'm using the starting wepon as a knight that's upgrading with Titan shards(?) +4 I think. It's a raw sword. Shouldn't I of found anything better yet? Everything I loot seems to be worse. It's possible I'm completely missing something here though :)

Don't fixate on numbers. Weapons have different movesets and it is all about finding what works best for you. I have a weapon that does far more damage than the Curved sword I am using, but I just can't get on with its moves.

The starting knight weapon has sweet weapon arts imo. nice for starting weapon.

The uchi seems to be quite popular for dex builds. I think something i never thought off before though is the stagger effect of heavy weapon hits...seems to be important? I'm running a butchers knife +2. For a big weapon its pretty fast :D Holding off upgrading it because i think the pvp online matches you with SL + max weapon stats. If i max it to +5 i'll get all the MLG crowd invading and i just run away haha. Still too chicken to swap out my blue badge for the sunbros or sentinels (got both of those) as i automatically get assistance from the blue sentinels when i get invaded.

ut I play on my plasma 90% of the time and I just discovered that the HUD option has on/off/auto. Auto hides the HUD out of combat and is VERY clever and doesn't hinder gameplay. Just hold 'down' on the dpad to make sure you're on estus anytime you start a fight. VERY handy. And stops annoying burn in.

handy for scenic screenshots ta :D

So just started to play this and was thinking its a bit easier than the others but then I came across that hollow blobby thing on the rooftop and it keeps destroying me. Any tips tactics for him.

When you climb down the ladder, charge him. If you kill him quick enough he doesn't finish the transformation.

What the actual ****.......

I just spent nearly an hour fighting Yhorm and broke 4 weapons in the process... No doubt it's like the great souls in Dark Souls 2 vs the King dude but I can't for the life of me figure out what I was meant to do, 50 odd minutes of smacking his ankles like a terrier vs a t rex to kill him, someone tell me it wasn't designed like that!

I will tell you - it's not designed like that.

There's a weapon in his room, I'll leave it at that

Cheers for the replies guys. Guess I'll stick with the sword for the time being then. It's nice having the shield and a 1h for those 'oh **** moments lol.

Yeah I'd already beaten him so I looked it up, funnily enough that was one of the weapons I broke, just didn't know how to use it right. :o

YEAH!!!

Final boss was cool, but apart from his magic form he really wasn't very hard, phase 2 was a joke because I somehow managed to stagger him about 1/3 of the way through and every time he went to get back up, he just staggered again. Not sure if my dps was too high for NG1 or if that was a bug, but he basically sat there and lay down. :(

Great game. However, it has to be said once you have beaten it once very little worth replaying unless you must get all achievements.

I managed to visit all locations in a single playthru & get most achievements. There is minimal replayability way less than Dark Souls 2 even due to the linear level design in DS3 its designed so that you visit most locations in a single playthru (apart from a few hidden walls which lead to lengthy secret locations).

You can beat the game once then answer No to the question after the end credits about wanting to start NG+ immediately. This then dumps you back @ Firelink shrine & you can continue to revisit the locations you missed with your stats as they were when you beat the final boss(s). You only miss 1 or 2 covenants you cannot join but apart from that you see all locations.

Now the lengthy wait for the DLC I guess!

PVP is a lot more fun on NG+ because you tend to only get good players.

Invasions have been too easy on NG - nobody is any good at trying to kill me...

Also there's items you can only get in NG+

I'm still using mine and am over half the way through. I imbued it with fire though and +4'd it. If you want to play with different weapons just upgrade them with shards, I'd create a fire weapon.

The shop keeper at Firelink will sell shards for 800 souls once you give her an item you'll get later in the game(you might have it now, see if there's an option to give something to her).

Cheers for that mate, I was thinking about making my sword a fire one as I had some gems. I'm still not understanding the numbers though. With fire does that mean it does 117 normal damage and 117 fire damage? If it does, I guess that's an upgrade. Unless I come against a fire monster with resistances :D
