Dark Souls gameplay discussion - spoilers ahoy!

jeez :( :eek: tried sneaking to get the treasures guarded by the bone dragon (had to bloody walk right up to its jaw!) but the bugger woke up gave me a heart attack n killed me bah!
 
He does wake up but by that time you will have grabbed all his loot anyway. Just make sure you spend any spare souls you have because he will wipe you out.

That sword let me rip through undead burg though much easier than any of my other characters did. Its called the Astoria straight sword or something similar.
 
ahh i shoulda thought of that. ill go back now :D have a estoc atm which is ok.

edit: bah the buggers awake

haha oh yeah got it anyway - just stormed in and nabbed it fae him

edit 2: bah dont have enough faith to wield it doesnt do much damage (not better than scimitar atm)

actually it does, it's like 80 + another 80 of magic damage, i think. made myself a +1 divine longsword that's nearly as good as the drake sword. looking for a cursed weapon, any hints anyone?

hrmm yeah it is 80 reg and 80 magic. (-64 when thrust tho) But i didnt see that reflected in the damage. My faith is only 8 need 14 to wield it effectively.
 
So I've battled my way through Undead Parish to the bonfire where the Blacksmith is, but now I don't know where to go?! The only way I haven't been is out the passage way near the BS where the massive creature shooting bolts is!

I thought the gargoyles were near here?

They're on top of the main building you came out of to get to the blacksmith.

The Boss next to the blacksmith is incredibly easy too, bow+arrows+ten minutes = dead from a distance, unlike the gargoyles which I am still struggling with.
 
This game is a lot more annoying than demons souls and stricter and meaner!

limited orbs (unlimited in demons souls)
limited hallowed state (have to be human to do anything)
good ole enemy tracking aimbots and melee swings that track u after they have made their attack....when u are rolling out of the way...massively unrealistic
rarely will i get humanity points. So that means mp not really possible...great...

sure i chucked at least 20 arrows into the dragon tail. Am i supposed to attack the tail when it appears next to me as well? died so many times because when you attack you take a little step forward ffs so fall to death yay

edit: finally! woot 10k souls im rich :D

wow this is great :D got summoned helped take out black knight got souls but died near just before gargoyles but still kept all souls and gained humanity yay!

Hrmm its supposed to still work if your human as well. waited ages and no summon.

im either at the bonfire after the boar or just before the knight (where u get knight shield) if anyone needs any help :D

anyone want to test if online coop is working? not randoms i mean. I mean arranged online coop.

lvl 22 ill stick the white sign down at the bonfire before you fight the boar in undead ruins/borg. If we get lucky might get far enuff to take on the gargoyles :D (will be on till midnight prolly)
 
Only got it last night, killed the Black Knight and Taurus Daemon in Undead Berg as a level 14 knight. I totally lamed the Taurus though, did the jumping attack 4 times and it was game over.

I only ever played Demons Souls as a melee class too, am thinking of rerolling to a caster/ranged type - any advice for a fairly novice player?
 
If you're going for a caster/ranged fighter then I would recommend the Pyromancer. He starts with the Fireball spell which is really quite powerful (can kill the armoured skeletons in Undead Berg in one hit), and it's really useful against the boss/mini boss characters. I would also advise saving 2500 souls and going to see Rickert of Vinheim early on, and buying Soul Arrow and the Sorcerer's Catalyst, which gives you more ranged options.

You'll need to find a good shield early on though, as the one you start with doesn't block 100% of the physical damage, so even when blocking you'll still be taking damage. That was a priority for me when I started.

If hes killed the black knight (chapel) then i assume he killed the earlier mini knights as one of them drops a knight shield i think.
 
DID IT! :D beat the gargoyles first time :D I did have the help of 2 kind souls though. One of them had a red/orange glow (as opposed to white) and i suspect a decent level coz he survived but my other summoned soul didnae.


How do you rate other players for their help btw? Also im sure in demons souls you could see their level before deciding to summon??
 
hmmm apparently there are some trees in the darkroot forrest that you cut down to reveal new areas, that area with the 4 stone giant golem blokes.

Yup there is, I didnt like the nasty I found down there though :)
Similar area, Moonlight butterfly.....gonna take some beating in the wierd boss fights stakes.
