Dark Soul's: Prepare to Die Edition (PC)

I've been playing with a Xbox controller, thankfully I had a wired controller in the house.

Just feel a bit violated, having to use a controller for a PC game. :p

In its current state DS isn't really a PC game, it's a console game being played via the medium of a PC. PC controls really don't work.

Saying that however, third person games are nearly always more comfortable to play with a controller.

Been playing some more, and yes, this game deserves the title of frustration personified. Damn black knights hit like a brick **** house. Seems to me, survival relies on parry and ripost most of the time.

My main stat is intelligence as I started out using sorceries but I am relying more and more on my rapier (of magicness +5) and parry/riposte or backstab.

My sorceries are ok at range (I have 40 intelligence) but up close they are just too slow. And my riposte/backstab damage is at almost 1k now :D

One on one, or just 2 or 3 I usually do fine now, but these damn traps are gonna make me give up at this rate!

I never ever parry, I am ashamed of myself :p I just either use the environment to my advantage or just take it slow, block/dodge then go for a back stab ever opportunity

Not sure if I like this, or I'm playing it just for the sake of beating it.
I like combat against normal mobs, but bosses, just seem like unpredictable cluster *****, getting in close, hoping their attack misses you, and yours hits.

Was stuck for ages on that headless statue thing, damn jump attack was practically unavoidable.
Stuck on the Bell Gargoyles now.

Get in human form and summon Solaire, his sign should be right next to where you go in.

Don't know what you mean by Headless statue thing tbh.

PS, it is funny what you say about bosses, as unpredictable is the one thing that bosses aren't!....it is literally designed in a way so that you can predict bosses moves and work out a strategy.

Turn human and summon solaire and/or another player for some jolly co-op, makes bosses easier. I had help with the Caapra demon.

As for the titanite demon (the headless stone dude) you will see more but there is a weakness:

  • Use arrows or sorceries to kill him, stay back so he uses his lightning spell and fire-dodge your way to his death, can take a while but its pretty easy.
  • The right leg is missing, stick close to the stub and you can spank him reletivley pain-free.

^ Ah yes, I suppose it is the Tritanite demon(though I never saw it like that tbh...must not have been paying attention...I thought he might have meant Havel!).

I find the best strategy is to stick close to the missing leg and hack at it 2-handed, or Pyromancy works quite well.

On a recent replay, I found the Capra Demon incredibly difficult for some reason, when I beat it first time iirc the firs time I played it. Probably to do with how I played it(beat it easily as a super fast dex build, but really struggled as a tank)

Capra is more luck than anything else. The hardest part is not getting stun-locked by his dogs.

It also doesn't help that it is in a confined space, and tbh I got beaten a few times by the camera angles. Also, it's attacks are relentless, so blocking continuously is not really an option

Remember this isn't a typical game of "Oh look I can avoid the boss' moves the first time they use them"... You're meant to die, you're meant to learn their moves and tactics, and then you go back and stand a better chance!
