Dark Soul's: Prepare to Die Edition (PC)

Not sure if I like this, or I'm playing it just for the sake of beating it.
I like combat against normal mobs, but bosses, just seem like unpredictable cluster *****, getting in close, hoping their attack misses you, and yours hits.

Was stuck for ages on that headless statue thing, damn jump attack was practically unavoidable.
Stuck on the Bell Gargoyles now.

Lol. :p

We all felt like that when we first played a Souls title, give it a few days and you'll of nearly mastered the game. They aren't hard games by any stretch of the imagination, the games downfall is the predictability of the enemies, including bosses so just wait and be patient. Study them and get to know them, and then they'll become glorified training dummies.

“You must be shapeless, formless, like water. When you pour water in a cup, it becomes the cup. When you pour water in a bottle, it becomes the bottle. When you pour water in a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Water can drip and it can crash. Become like water my friend.”

:D

It also doesn't help that it is in a confined space, and tbh I got beaten a few times by the camera angles. Also, it's attacks are relentless, so blocking continuously is not really an option

Yup, he can be a bugger especially if you don't get lucky and take both his dogs down quickly... If you don't you're just about guaranteed death :p

Finally got round to getting this today in the Steam sale.

You need to mod the crap out of it to get it running so if anyone else just picked it up this is a quality link with all the essential mods:

http://www.gameranx.com/features/id/15228/article/best-dark-souls-mods/p/2/

I've been fine with just DSFix for the past 270 hours I've played it so I wouldn't call any of those other than DSFix essential unless you're using M&KB (Which you shouldn't be) in which case the mouse fix too.

Having a problem downloading the DSFix mod. That link for it in the link above generates an error when I try manual download which I think is related to the fact that I do not have an account; however an account costs money.

Anyone have a mirror for this file?

Thanks for that mod link, have to try them out.

Damn, can't get DSFix to work, crashes the game once I load up my savegame.

Agreed, DSFix is the only essential. I've got a couple of other mods installed, some UI mods but they're certainly not essential.

Think I'm close to throwing in the towel.
Went to New Londo because I think that's where the other bell is, and the ghosts are kicking my ****. Attacking me through walls most of the time.

I'm now stuck without any Transient Curse.

I'm trying to like this game, but I don't think it's my cup of tea, not feeling any sense of accomplishment when I kill something, just a case of moving onto the next cluster****

Yeah, in the end I found it quite tedious. Shame really, as in some respects I think it's a very good game, but I just couldn't get past some of the things I didn't like. I might play it again one day, though if possible I'd like to be able to apply some mods.

The second bell is not in the ruins... it's in Blight-Town.

You shouldn't be in New Londo for a long while yet! You can buy transient curses from the witch in the sewer as well I believe.

If you really believe it's just a case of luck, go watch some of the soul level 1, totally naked, NG+7 clears. They don't take a single hit throughout the entire game.

Edit - In addition, you've not even reached the best parts of the game yet. Anor Londo is particularly spectacular for both scenery and boss fights.

I don't remember saying anything about luck?
Wait, think I did :p

Those damn ghost attacks, sometimes I would roll away and their scythe hug would catch me mid roll, other times, I could be attacking and their hug would go straight through me.

Hey Guys. Tried that DSFix for the resolution change as my native res is 1920 x 1080. I tried this first and made a load of changes throughout the DSFix.ini file, however the game would not start after the intro and stopped working. So, I just extracted the DSFix files to the DATA folder and did not change anything (the file DSFix.ini file already was set to my res). The game worked this time, however i get the below. Any ideas how to fix this?
