Dark Soul's: Prepare to Die Edition (PC)

Catacombs should be easy with the Uchi, just take out the Necromancers (The things which chuck fire at you) and the skeletons will stop reviving.

The painted world is fun if you want somewhere else to go :)

I tend to just use my normal weapon, hack at the skellys and hit the Necromancers as fast a possible so the skells dont respawn. I think there are three or four of them in the level but im probably wrong.
Do Pinwheel, hardest boss in the game....:P and push on through tomb of the giants IF you have a light source, otherwise its the stuff of nightmares!

e: what Jamie said :D

Ahhh, that the fire dude by the first bonfire? What a prat, killed him. So now the skele's in the first area won't respawn when I kill them? The next bit there is a message saying "shortcut" on this walkway after 2 skeletons. I tried twice, died twice. So I will ignore it. The room to the right (end of that walkway) has a archer skeleton in it and multiple others. I killed the necro via arrows before I encountered the first 2 skeletons, does that mean they won't auto revive if I use my uchi? As it slices through them like nothing.

Pinwheel eh? Didn't even know that was a boss... And light source? I might want to purchase that from that sorcerer dude then eh?

If you killed the necro (you can use any weapon), the skeletons wont revive when you use the uchi.

Don't pay attention to 'shortcut', just explore the area. There are some hidden bits with things like a bonfire and crystal lizards.

A light source can be the skull lantern if you've found one, put it in your left hand.

Well, got as far as the Gaping Dragon. Was having problems with none of my hits causing damage to it, and if they did then it miraculously healed itself. Figured it was probably because I'd summoned the NPC Knight, which gives it extra health.

Just had another try, ended up falling through the floor on the way there and got Cursed (killed due to it) by a group of Basilisks.

Made my way back to the dragon, entered solo... and again, hitting it is doing no damage at all... one single tail swipe while running away from it after a post-charge attack had me down due to the curse.

That's it; no more. Game is being uninstalled.

Good shout! i forgot about the Channeler on the balcony above, i usually kill him so he's never an issue but if he's still there then he buffs the boss for 50% more damage?

Killed him way back. He's the caster with the three rats surrounding him, isn't he?

Basically, when fight starts, the dragon has its health bar, plus another, much larger brown-y coloured bar above that.

I've fought it four times now. On one occasion it took damage, but as soon as it flew into the air it fully healed (while the summoned knight did naff all to help). Every other time, I've stayed away, then ran in and hacked at the belly. I can see the hits connect, but the health bar doesn't change. Using the Drake Sword atm as haven't found anything better.

Considering I'm now cursed and won't be able to get rid of that until I'm in the New Londo Ruins (I think that's what they're called), I give up. No way I'm starting again.

Drake sword should be good enough for the job so thats not the problem. Sounds like you have some crazy bug or have discovered some super hyper mode! :D

As for the curse, go see Oswald at the bottom of the Bell Tower, he sells purging stones to get rid of curses :)

e: I know it might be a silly question but just making sure, sword isnt broken? even if it is it doesnt explain two health bars.

Here's a screenshot taken just a few minutes ago:

Notice the big yellowish bar above the dragon's actual health bar?

Same problem again... ran up and started hacking at the belly... and no change in anything.

I then ran around managing my inventory to make sure the sword wasn't broken or something (it's fine) and ran off the edge of a crevice, lol.

Still... it just seems to take no damage whatsoever.

Yeah that looks like a bug, the gfx are messed up on your healthbar too, the cursed skull should be over the Humanity counter.

The big yellowish bar is where the proper boss heath bar should be. Im tempted to say copy your save and uninstall the game, reinstall then put the save back to see if it fixes it, just hope its not a corrupt game save.

I suspect you are actually doing damage to it even though its not showing up.

e: On a side note, have you installed the DSfix? you are supposed to keep AA and motion blur turned off or they can mess with your gfx!

Sorry for delay in getting back... I figured out it was a bug due to DSfix's HUD scaling option.

Turned that off, and it was all good. Killed the mofo first time without taking a single hit. Since then I've been back to the bell tower (thanks for that tip!) and cleared the curse. Back into human form, stats up a little thanks to all of the souls from the dragon. Woop!

Is heading on to Blighttown now the expected/correct move?
