Dark Soul's: Prepare to Die Edition (PC)

Yeah I got cursed by those frog things too, I hate those frogs with a passion. You can buy a stone to purge the curse from the chap in the bell tower near where the bell tower gargoyle boss fight was for 3000 souls, the trader in the tunnel that links The Depths/undead Parish has them for 6000.

I would have killed them with ease if my drake sword didn't brake :p. Thanks for the curse removal tip, ill go check it out tomorrow, iv already killed the gargoyle bosses.

Worth buying?

If you don't mind downloading a easy fix mod to sort out the texture res, then i say yes!

Is the drake sword or whatever drops off that dragons tail worth reinforcing? I'm not in new game+ yet

Probably not as The Drake sword doesn't scale with your stats, you'd be better off reinforcing weapons that scale. Most swords/spears/Axes etc will benefit from increasing points in Strength/Dexterity, where as the Drake Sword doesn't scale at all and gets just +20 damage each reinforcement, which is a very poor return for the 10,000 soul cost.

Don't bother with stat scaling, just wait until your in Anor Londo and make your Claymore lightning, stat scaling is extremely moot as you can get the same/more damage from non scaled, elemental weapons. That way all the points you don't waste in strength/dex can be pumped into end/vit.

This is both good and utterly horrible advice.

For PvE in the first playthrough and part of NG+ it's true. It is a lot easier to simply go elemental and gouge vit after getting END to 40 (it's largely useless beyond that) as you get good damage and survivability. However after this point, due to elemental damage not scaling, you will start to be left behind, at which point stat scaling weapons or magic becomes by far the better choice.

In PvP however you will just get laughed at. It is incredibly easy to defend against lightning damage. I advise anyone interested in PvP builds to check out the various wikis and forums.

I am still left off unknown what to do...

I have cleared the depths of all bosses and unlocked the link to blight town. It is tough, however, still taking chunks from the enemies with my drake sword. What should I do? I have not attempted to beat hydra, don't see the point. But will get round to it once my survivability is a little better I think. Killed the moth thing in the forest.

So yea... Where is the natural progression from here? Blight town?

If you have rang the first bell then yes it is down to blight town to ring the second. Not that you have to follow that route, you could explore ghosts/skeleton areas.

Don't have anything with faith :( so ghosts are a no go and skellies are going to be a ***** to kill :(

So yea, looks like I will slog it through blight town then lol. Finally at the point where I creep forward with my shield up treating every single movement as hostile lol.

I see they nerfed the soul farming in the forest behind the double doors :( Which is annoying... Might explore that area tbh, at the back I beleive there is a covenant no?

You can still farm in that area, I was doing it when it first came out, also you don't need faith for the ghosts. Grab a transient curse (you can then use any weapon you like) and use it, I believe there is 2x just before the ghosts and they drop them all the time when you kill them. But yeah at the back of that area we spoke about above is a covenant, quite a good one actually :)

Depends, the investment required (at least one stat at 40 which otherwise wouldnt be with a elemental weapon) has diminishing returns as a build that wants to stay at a decent level can't afford to put vit in the 30's, endurance in the 30's and a scaled stat, unless your talking about Moonlight Greatsword etc with a sorcerer character. Creating a strength build IMO is useless before level 100+ as the stats you need to do damage could have gone into attunement and a spell stat to procure some very useful tools.

Scaled builds are viable, but only a sorcery character can be at the top of the pile when it comes to PVP out of the scaled builds, a soul level 125 with an elemental weapon will have far more HP, stamina and tons of various spells where as a level 125 with scaled weaponry will most likely be about 20% more damaging with actual melee with nowhere near as many tools.

That's how it was on the 360 anyway, maybe it's changed for PC.

Which ever developer decided to put that part in blight town where you need to roll on the wooden platforms in, is a complete ********.

Well that is just a short cut anyway you can get to both sides without using them once. Also it is quite easy LOL :p If you co-op near that bonfire and get to them, your team mate will fall down 8/10 times haha.

Yea, it was actually me just being a retard, I tried rolling onto the platform on the moving wheel then rolling onto the platform underneath even though there is a ladder.. I'm my own worse enemy :(

Also is there any weapon better then dragon sword / claymore +5 / knight shield? I'm just about to fight Quelaag and wondering if I've missed anything

Depends on your stats, there are several weapons "capable" of being better but require bigger stat investments.
