Dark Soul's: Prepare to Die Edition (PC)

The games fine, it just sounds like lots of retard on your end. If you're not prepared to use a controller then uninstall the game and miss out on a great experience; not that somebody with this kind of attitude, and without the ability to get something as easy as DSfix working, would ever get out of the Asylum anyhow.

No need what so ever to be so rude....

DSfix doesn't work for everyone, Bundled with the fact GFWL has to be fixed to work on Windows 8 i simply cannot be bothered to try each released of DSfix until one works.

If you read the instructions, it does

So basically because you're too stubborn and lazy to get it working?

Controllers are a console thing, I use a PC for keyboard and mouse...

Are steering wheels a vehicle thing? Are joysticks an arcade thing? I'm going to use the superior device no matter what it's origins and so should you.

You're problem probably has something to do with having AA and Motion Blur on in the in-game menu.

Not at all.
I spent a while reading up about it, AA and Blur turned off in game options as well.

In gaming the superior devices are in my eyes the Keyboard and mouse, I grant you that yes there are some games that are just better with a game pad and this is going to be one of them.

I have a usb game pad i may use if i can get the graphics sorted.

EIDT:
Plugged in my game pad.. and for some reason DSfix now works. Only thing that doesn't work is AA from DSfix config file, But I'm not too fussed.

I insta died on the first large mob tho :/

DSFix doesn't work for me either and I've spent hours trying every fix for it, even installed every older version of it and they all crash on game start up, I've tried everything in the README.txt, everything mentioned here and tried everything I've found online, I've even tried hopping on one leg whilst installing and when that didn't work I tried hopping on the other. It. Doesn't. Work.

I really have no idea... Never heard of it not working full stop for anyone before.

Afaik the two bugs that crash on startup are the win 8 / gfwl bug and not turning ingame AA off before you load up with dsfix.

Aside from that..

So you can all point and laugh at me...

I knew it would be something really simple and stupid, trouble was I found it impossible to see what it was and it was also made far worse in that I had done the same thing with every DSFix version I had downloaded... On extracting the .zip file I'd ignored the dsfix folder thinking it was part of the zip/file/packaging and just a folder...

Once I figured out the problem it ran first time and has fixed everything! :D I ran up and killed the Gargoyle, which of course didn't bother to fire breathe once before I killed it just to rub it in LOL!

You have Windows 8? Wow, tbh you are definitely gonna get bent over and given a good seeing to by Dark Souls, quit now! I'm surprised you even know how to boot your PC, let alone use Steam. ;)

I bought this a couple of days ago and just started putting some time into it yesterday and today. It's really beyond my expectations, having a great atmosphere, challenging combat, it runs pretty nicely, and it doesn't hold my hand at all! I don't think I could ask for more. I'm having a stupid amount of fun exploring and getting it handed to me by each new enemy I encounter, so it's really encouraging me to learn something each time.

It's such a refreshing change from most titles and gives me the same feeling I used to get playing games when I was younger.

Liking this game a lot. The more I play it, the more it seems to grow on me. It's particularly satisfying going back to previous areas and finding that my higher level knight is able to mow down almost all foes in his way (praise the claymore). On the down side, I'm still struggling to pull off backstabs, and I haven't dared to think of taking on Havel yet.

Also, I can't yet get the better of the knight that guards the ring of blue tearstone - (though I did manange to get my hands on that item), as well a similar dude (both mini bosses?) that is positioned atop a turret in the Undead Parish, I think.

With Havel it's just back stab frenzy :p Takes a while though as I found out when using a low level character :o
